If they have autonomy to strike in a last resort situation not sure what is in the letter will matter much.
 
Depends where you live, but if a nuke started heading our way, you don't have enough time to get anywhere else.

Say you live in inner London, not much you can do in 10-20mins other than cuddle your loved ones.

I'd probably set up a group whatsapp so at least everyone in our family can talk about the good times.

Thing is, you just don't know until it's too late.

The superpowers would be gone, but I guess not everyone would.

There'd be a mass migration of people afterwards.

It is. Personally I think Boris’s last orders for the subs would be put yourself under the control of the US. It would make sense as our nukes are leased from the US anyway

Sigh. Are you being serious, or trolling? Genuinely can't tell.

In a world war, the internet would be largely destroyed very quickly. Transatlantic fibre cables would severed. Satellites serving internet would be destroyed. Datacentres, CDN’s, any internet hosting infrastructure would also be easily destroyed.

How would twitter function without the internet?...................

Tue but im sure they would have been tracked to where they was going to.
 
What happened to open conversation.
For example putin raised his nuclear defence because he received threats from nato.
Nato responded, not by saying no we didn't, but with. What he is doing is unacceptable.
I want to hear them say no we didn't, and also want to see what threats he Recieved.
Like I said conversation and transparency would help a lot here.

Well I was actually being serious because presumably if twitter had been around and was reporting in the way it is here then the initial German advances into neighbouring countries wouldnt have been anywhere near as effective and thus the whole thing wouldnt have even reached world war proportions, their troop movements could be have reported via social media and stopped before they even reached the point where they attacked Poland. However the caveat to that is that in order for the internet to have existed for Twitter to exist the world and international relations and tech would have had to have been much further developed than in the 1930s and the whole WW2 breakout would have been unlikely from a political standpoint anyway.

Stop adding stuff to your statement now. It is irrelevant if nukes hit before a counterattack can be launched. It is irrelevant, how much of the UK remains. Other NATO nations (European or non-European) are irrelevant.

The UK will definitely hit back. That is what the nuclear deterrent is.

Israel vetoed it, they were scared that if Ukraine quickly fell it would fall into the wrong hands, I’m sure in hindsight knowing the situation now they would have allowed it to be given to Ukraine

? You're missing my whole point - in a world war, the internet wouldn't work. Turn off your home router, or turn off mobile data on your phone. Try load a website - it won't load. This is what will happen to you if you're in a country that's being invaded in a world war.

Internet infrastructure is easily destroyed.

Two issues with that in that it is a fairly large static installation in a fluid situation which takes experienced operators to run and the Israelis probably have justifiable concerns as to how much information about it gets into the wrong hands.
