ULTRA SCARY PC GAME?

Definitely Doom 3. The scariest I've played anyway.

Ordinarily I wouldn't moan about graphics. But Doom3 doesn't have much besides the graphics :p Those screens look absolutely awful. Everything looks plastic; even the organic stuff looks plastic.

I know, that's what I thought. I really can't remember them looking like that at all.

Theif, the Shalebridge Cradle level is the scariest level of PC gaming I've ever played.

I tried and tried, and failed to get them working on a modern PC. And I used to edit config.sys and autoexec.bat manually back in the day :p

Thief defies my attempts to get it working :(

I do agree with the Thief 3 Cradle level, very creepy level that has you hiding in the shadows for very different reasons.

I will partly agree with Doom 3 for the first section of the game when you have barely any weapons and its groaning zombies in the dark but later on you are just blasting everything with moosive weapons that it loses all its fear factor for me.

I don't recall FEAR being all that scary. I remember being more scared by Half Life's Black-Ops ninjas :p

I vaguely remember having to turn off some critical security system or something to get Thief 3 working on Vista. Getting it working on XP was a massive pain in the ****ing arse too, eventually found a program which mods the exe or something to make it work on multicore.

But agreed, the Cradle is freaking creepy.
