why would it?

flashing to 6970 is only enabling all the shaders and upping the clocks slightly and upping the voltage to 1.175 from 1.100v..

if u keep the power control to 0% the TDP won't change.

Yeah this is my concern, dunno if just to go for the 6970 proper and bedone.. or take a risk on moving up from a Nvidia GTX 280 to a 6950 would see a big enough performance hike at stock to make me smile if it doesnt flash!?

Just looking on TPU.. the table there suggests a 100% success rate so far

Just successfully flashed my 2x VTX 6950's. Passed Heaven and 3D Mark 11 without issues.

6950 Bios at stock
6970 Bios at stock 6970 speeds

A pretty nice improvement. I am well chuffed only having had these cards a matter of days

both flashed with ease, nothing special actually.
get snow in windows (2d) and bench wont run.
tried several bioses, no go.
tried to lower mhz, etc..same issue.

flash back to 6950, all is well.
other card seems to work good with unlock.

can i ask why you flashed an HIS bios and not an asus? i thought the asus gave you more options like voltage control?

i ask as i've ordered the HIS one

I just picked that one, no particular reason. Might try the asus one at a later date, just enjoying the extra free performance for now

Try here you might be able to to edit the memory timings yourself.
