Might be worth adding the link to the OP easy.
both flashed with ease, nothing special actually.
get snow in windows (2d) and bench wont run.
tried several bioses, no go.
tried to lower mhz, etc..same issue.
flash back to 6950, all is well.
other card seems to work good with unlock.
Powercolor, watercooled.
Nice guys! Looks like 6950 is actually worth 200 notes!
What's the oc been like easy, once it's been flashed?
^Andy^ has a link to the working ATI flash I think.
Another one unlocked here, an HIS version, so you can add this one to the list easy.
for anyone who's never done this before and is a little apprehensive at doing it, on the techpowerup page theres an option to download a complete "flashing package" for inexperienced ppl, ie, me. I used this in desperation as I tried all the quoted methods and still had no joy. This package has everything you need to unlock the extra shaders and comes with instructions too. Worked a treat too, currently benching @ stock 6970 clocks.
VERY happy bunny here.
That's the package I have downloaded as well.
Just a quick query - did you try the batch files contained within the download package?
Very very tempting, got the same card as Easy so it should be a sinch - will read the info in OP and build up to giving it a go!
JUst make sure you copy the correct bios over to the winflash folder or you will flash with a reference bios
I did mine in cmd and it was very easy.
Instructions on the OP
Read the batch file and everything will be come clear.
The reference bios isn't a problem (although I assume any bios that you want to try needs to be renamed to "unlock.bin") as I would try that first and then try the Asus Bios.
The instructions are perfectly self explanatory both in the OP and the TPU article.
I was just curious about the batch file. I am assuming that I can just double click the "unlock.bat" file and it will perform the flash as if it's running a macro?
I don't want to try it at the moment as I am analysing the files on my Alienware M11x and it might have a hissy fit if I try to flash the 335m bios with a HD6970.... ( I know it won't work but I don't want to mess anything up on this laptop as I have got it just right....).
I'm just glad I made the right choice when getting a new card - extra performance for "relatively" little effort is a big christmas bonus
Others have used the batch file without issue.
I just typed the stuff in CMD
I chose the 6970 Sapphire Bios. I was going to have a go with the Asus bios but TBH i'm happy at the mo.Black ops has been running for over 4hours now and I'm having no issues.
