Unlock your ATI 6950 to a 6970 Thread

I do have an ASUS card, so how would I go about altering core voltage? MSI afterburner doesn't seem to be able to. Would I have to alter it in the CCC file?

As the 6950 unlocked bios is unstable so I have to use the asus 6970 bios so I cant use smart doc

oh, if smart doc doesn't work then u can't

i don't understand how the 6950 unlocked bios can be unstable. it only unlocks the shaders. nothing else. it keeps the 6950 clocks, voltage, memory timings

It lags and then becomes unresponsive, a previous poster in this thread claimed the same thing. Works fine on the asus 6970 bios at 890MHz core and 1375Mhz Memory.

Received my Powercolor card and unlocked it to 6970. I did try the manual way but got the "cannot erase" error, so tried the CMD walk through but was beyond my intelligence level.
I downloaded the "auto" scripted version, but swapped the bios for the 6870 Powercolor bios, I guess it wont make a difference but hey.

I'll try to get some heaven images up over the weekend.

Big thanks to Easy for pointing this out.

Now do I really need another of these cards...........

for those of you who say the 6950 asus bios lags
try setting your volts and clocks etc, then close ccc and smart doc ( it will keep your settings ) and just keep AB ( if you use it ) open, no lag caused then
i did have the lag, but done what ive just mentioned and the lag went.
had a very similar issue with lag and my 5870 xfire cards, was something to do with AB and CCC running at the same time
hope this helps

I am struggling to get it over 900/1400, thinking thats due to the fact i am using a 650w PSU.

well after reading the above i thought i would give it another go. ok so remember the problem i was having with it, crashing str8 after log in screen, well it just does that.

i thought smart doc may have been keeping the oc settings and volts so uninstalled it but still kept crashing. only way i can get it to boot if i uninstall the ati drivers. i think my card just wont accept this bios anymore

well ive just flashed to a vtx 6970 bios and ran heaven 2.5 times at 900/1375 stock volts and did not get a crash, something the asus 6970 bios could not do.

edit:

getting driver stopped errora in jc2. im just going to wait for after burner or maybe make my own bios
