**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Not yet, only had about 6k on it when I got it so sadly a while to go before it's economical to make the decision to bin them.

I'm not really a fan of them though, Sport Mode is really wheelspin mode if the road isn't bone dry

When are they ps4s's coming out? Just had my mot and some how my tyres have 4.5mm on them even though they feel terrible. I want to last so I can get them for the sexy sidewall

Yeah I noticed that last night, couple of heavy footed moments from standing in sport mode and it was all wheel spin despite the roads being pretty dry

Just thought I'd chime in to say that the Goodyear Excellence RFTs on the back of my 535d are terrible when it is cold. We had a day here when the temp in the morning was 3c and even after about 10 miles they were still really bad. Today in the damp was warmer but they still really struggle with even moderate throttle application. Such a shame that they are basically brand new as I wouldn't otherwise hesitate to bin them.

Crap tyres like this feed the winter tyre 7c myth :(

Does anyone know if these are out in the UK yet? I need to replace the boots on my R8 as it's getting very slip slidy all of a sudden and I think I've been a bit too much of a hooligan in it :D

No, not yet. They only made the press release for them a month ago.

From the press release:
Michelin said:
The new MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 S will be available from January 2017 in Europe and from early March in the United States. It will be available in in 19 and 20 inch diameters, covering 92% of the market.

I've just been reading through the last few pages as I'm currently looking at replacing all 4 tyres.

I'm driving an A4 Quattro, and I live on the east side of Manchester at the foot of the pennies so we do get a reasonable amount of snow, rain and ice during the winter.

I've been considering moving to the Michelin CrossClimate as they seem to be well reviewed in cold weather as well as during the summer which seems brilliant as far as cost saving is concerned (i.e. not replacing winter with summer tyres etc). I was thinking the combination of 4WD and the CrossClimate should give me plenty of grip and enhanced braking.

What are your thoughts? Am I thinking along the right lines? The car currently has Nexen on it which have been OK but they're ready for replacement.

Thanks.

Need new tyres for the Saab.

Eagle f1 Asymmetric 3 or Sport Contact 5?

I've had SC3 on the Renault Megane and they were tremendous. I have Eagle F1 AS2 on the Saab currently and are fantastic.

Is it simple case of buy the cheaper tyre because both are excellent?

Tyre companies would have you believe that all-season tyres give you the best of both worlds, but honestly, from all of the reviews I've seen, it's more like the worst of both.

They don't really do well anywhere, they're just "ok" in all conditions. Where I live we haven't had snow (more than a dusting) in 3 years, but we've had plenty of wet and dry weather which my regular tyres perform the best in.

The question you have to ask yourself is - do you marginally improve grip in snow at the cost of having worse tyres the rest of the time?

They'll also wear quicker, especially in warm conditions.
