**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

I'll check out the AD08R's and how people rate them in terms of wear, didn't realise they were priced almost the same as the 595 RS-Rs.

I got mine for the Mini for an incredibly good price off an eBay tyre dealer called Ben Patey. I got them for £77 a corner with next day delivery. The next cheapest I could find on *any* website was £97 a corner! He's also on the M3 owners Facebook page and has supplied lots of people on there. You just have to drop him a message.

As much as I'd like to try PS4S if Michelin weren't so annoyingly stupid with tyre sizing it's difficult to see how they justify so much extra money for them.

Buying decent tyres for BMW's is getting hugely annoying as it seems only Goodyear remember that they have different sizes front to rear and bother to offer the same tyre in both sizes

Mmm, it is rather quite annoying - hopefully they'll roll out more sizes as things progress. Do Continental not do the CSC6 in both FR and RR sizes?

Continental do not offer a single CSC6 in BMW * Marked F10 M Sport sizes and told me they had no plans to as the manufacturer hadn't requested them. Great. What about the actual customers?!

Happily sell you ancient CSC5's though

What did the rears do? Obviously both front and rears didn't last 30k miles.

Rears lasted 30k, fronts I had to change at 12k as I split a side wall hitting a pothole. Replacement set of fronts have so far seen 35k miles. Shoulders are a bit worn from the track use and occasional spirited road driving but the backs seem to wear really evenly even with track use.

Fronts will probably be good for another 5-10k depending on whether I get in one or two track days on them.

30k out of the rear tyres on a 35i, with track use? Were you hypermiling even on the track or what because I simply don't believe that at all.

Seems absolutely insane, I reckon my rears are good for 15k from new on my 530d and I don't drive it particularly hard.

The vast majority of my miles are on a motorway at 70mph. Not exactly hard on the tyres. The 1 series is a lot lighter than a 5 series, and remember I'm averaging over 34mpg over 48k miles (and that does include the track says). You're the past two days I've covered 680 miles and averaged 39.2mpg.

The rears actually only did one track day and one Nürburgring visit though during that time. I changed the rears before the next track day and Nürburgring visit.

That is a tad annoying....

Edit: Actually Blackcircles do have my sizes, ~£860 for PS4S fitted.

Is that for your Z4? Which exact sizes did you order? I'll probably go PS4S on my Z4 if I can get them in the correct sizes.

I really must replace the front tyres on my 535d imminently, they are very close to the 1.6mm limit so this needs to be done in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I just can't decide what to do :( BMW * marked tyres are hard to find, and I'm sort of unwilling to go with anything else after the issues Fox had with noise. I have a slight vibration issue which I'm hopeful new tyres will fix but Fox's 530d has the same issue, albeit not quite as pronounced (he's driven both cars back to back to confirm). If it isn't the tyre, I would like to be able to argue with BMW about it which I won't be able to if it isn't * marked.

Ideally I'd like to replace them with tyres that I will eventually have on the rear. I can't really justify changing the rear tyres at the moment as they were brand new when I bought the car sadly. Based on my fronts lasting 25k miles, I reckon I'll be about a third of the way through these fronts when the rears need to be changed and at that point I want them to match.

I kinda feel like I'm being pushed into F1A3, a tyre I don't think I'll particularly get on with. What to do, what to do...

Haven't ordered anything yet, but yeah for my Z4. Sizes are 255 30 R19 rear and 225 35 R19 fronts.

I like my ps4's - grip well and have only worn about 3mm over circa 10k of reasonably hard miles on the front, but tbh I don't think I'd pay £30 more a corner over even csc5 which I found wore pretty well too. You aren't going to go wrong with either really

30% longer might be a figure someone comes up with based on their experience of driving with them and a competing tyre, although that’s a direct figure rather than one that has been averaged to account for road conditions, weather, driving style during usage of either tyre, type of journey… You get the idea.

30% more as a blanket figure is quite the stretch. I don’t believe they will offer that kind of extra mileage compared to say a CSC6.

All being said, are you really going to be experiencing the slight advantage at the limits considering you’re afraid to push the limits of any tyre considering that you are afraid to push the car due to the power based on what you’ve been used to up until now anyway?

All of these considered, I think it would be a waste of £30 extra per corner going for the PS4 over a CSC6. It is not a high performance RWD car where the difference may or may not be more obvious to warrant the extra cost surely?

For my own car I'm perfectly happy with the CSC6 now that I can't see any point in paying more for the PS4. I'd like to try a set of PS4s however, just to see what the ride quality and performance is like pushing on, but I think I'd just end up back with another set of CSC6 again once that itch has been scratched.
