**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Will mull it over…

When it next rains, take the car to a quiet road nearby and try an emergency stop from 40 or 50mph, if they're half as bad as I expect them to be, that'll probably make your decision for you. Maybe they're an undiscovered gem and you'll be pulled to a quick and controlled stop but I suspect it's more likely your ABS will be working overtime and you'll be having a mild panic at just how much the car isn't stopping :p

Hi guys where would the cheapest place to get cross climate 2 tyres x2 in

205/50 R17

Black circles are £166 each fully fitted

Thanks for help

Asda tyres are a bit cheaper depending on load rating and you'd also get a £10 Asda Voucher

Looking at changing my current set of 4s that I've done around 12k on.

Not sure to get another set again for £770 or try cs7 or even ps5 as they can be found for £680.

Don't track them and other than the occasional boot down the slip road, I would say they see some fairly pedestrian driving.

What do you think?

Thanks for the input, now I need to decide between the cs7 and ps5.

I had continentals years ago and remembered the wear rate was atrocious. What kind if wear are you seeing out of each tyre?

I don’t do many miles, but I am noticing a lot of edge wear from cornering. Then again, they have supreme grip and that comes at a cost.

Had a car on my bumper a couple of days ago, so figured I’d see how confident they were around the roundabout, absolutely chucked it in and the tyres didn’t budge, the car behind wasn’t even close.

Tbh, they aren’t really in the same class. PS5 is a high end tyre, CSC7 is an ultra high performance tyre. A better comparison would be the PS4S, or the new PSS5 or whatever it’s called, which comes in limited size options.

Mine are wearing fine, but I don’t do a huge amount of miles.

I think I'm going to settle on a set of sc7 this time round. Wouldn't mind the new PSS5 but they sre not yet available.

I think my set of current p4s wore down prematurely because the bushes on my front control arms have split. Looking to get the tyres changed first and then hopefully arms changed by the end of the month alongside some fresh pads and discs. Gonna be an expensive month :(

Ordered a set of sc7 from etyres on ebay, used code and brought a set delivered and fitted nearby for £593!

Hopefully they'll give me a ring when they arrive as some of the feedback suggests they sometimes don't get the end customer's details. Luckily for me it's close by and I'll pop in tomorrow to let them know theres some on their way.

After some advice/suggestions for some new tyres 205/55/16.

I only do about 5000 miles a year and I’m replacing as 3 of them are cracking before the tread has worn out. Will replace all 4.

I always had michelins in the past and went for coopers last time as they had a free puncture guarantee.

Happy to pay for Michelins if need be but any other suggestions welcome.

Any of the premium touring offerings would be fine, primacy 4, efficient grip performance 2, Turanza6, ultrac, Venus prime 4 etc

I currently have efficient grip performance 2 on my car and more than happy with them

You could probably have a look round and get whatever’s cheapest from the ones tested?
