**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Looking for new tyres for my ST Line X.

Dealership fitted budget tyres and my driver side front has a slow puncture.

As they're budgets and I don't have that much confidence in them it's time to replace all of them so I'm looking at Michelin Pilot Sport 5s.

I had my car serviced recently and the tyre wear is even on the inner and outer of every tyre. The steering wheel is straight and no pull so I'm guessing I don't need wheel alignment doing ?

NS front 4.5 outer 4.5 inner
OS front 4.5 4.5
OS rear 6.0 6.0
NS rear 4.0 4.0

Has anyone got any experience of these tyres, I have it narrowed down to these 2 brands
Continental All Season Contact 2 or Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3. They will go on a T-Roc 2.0 tdi dsg

No experience but those Continental's I have bookmarked lol. They get a good write up.

There is another poster on here (@Irish_Tom I think) with Conti All Season Contact 2s who might have an update, my brother put a set on his car yesterday so will try and get his feedback and/or see if I can give them a whirl, from the reviews they are pretty good overall just a bit behind the pack when it comes to dry braking which is one area personally I like to have top of the class performance if I can.

On the other hand the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 are the most like a summer tyre for overall handling, decent dry braking and excellent wet performance while still having credible winter performance the only downside seems to be they wear quicker than the equivalents from other brands - on tyre reviews and elsewhere a small number of people have complained about manufacturing defects which makes me a little cautious - I was considering putting them or the Contis on the Qashqai but depending on what the Contis are like on my brother's car I might look at those or the Bridgestone Turanza 6 All Season.

I've got a couple of sets of Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV and driven a couple of other vehicles with the regular ones on and to be honest I've mixed opinions on them - they are quite good on like a regular passenger car, but on bigger heavier vehicles, especially anything with decent torque, they have some negatives - a bit too soft, a little bit of tramlining that I don't get with other tyres and a bit sloppy on rapid direction changes - if you take a fast left turn and then try to hang a quick right they can be quite vague as you start turning into the right.

EDIT: My brother isn't very helpful - though he has only done about 50 miles on them so far - just shrugged when I asked and said he hasn't really noticed any difference to the Goodyear EfficientGrip he had on before so far.

Fitted some Accelera Iota tyres to the Touareg after loads of recommendations on owners club.

For £80 a tyre they are amazing all
Season tyres. Seen no difference compared to the Goodyear eagles they replaced in wet or dry and found them perform fantastic in the snow.

Ahhh, the ever reliable impartiality of an owners club, where they perform good comparative performance testing between tyres with a nice data set at the end :D

Damn. Why did I spend almost 10 times that much on 4 Michelin Alpins?

My car came fitted with a brand new set of Acceleras by the dealer when I got it. I can't remember the model, but they were the single most terrifying tyres I've ever used. Average in the dry and downright dangerous in the wet. Because I couldn't quite bring myself to bin off a brand new set of tyres I tried to stick with them but a couple months later when the summer ended and the weather started to change, they were gone.

It was either you or them. Wise choice!

No way would I put cheep ass ditch finders on the only part of the car that touches the road

Will leave another positive owners review despite no meaningful data, and when I do have a scare with them I won't mention it as I don't want people to think I'm stupid.

Corrected.

Got some 6/7 year old tyres on a Mondeo that ideally need replacing - don't worry the car has been off the road! It has Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3's right now in 235/40/R18 but I'm way out of the loop on this stuff now (been long term sick so not driving):

What tyres are good in this size these days? What online shops still exist/are best?

Additionally I have one wheel that has a dent in it so probably a good time to get that fixed - suggestions on where/what to do about that would be appreciated too :)

If you like the Goodyear's, then the latest Eagle F1 AS6 can be had in your size for about £103. :)

Hi all,

My sister has asked me to help her source a decent price for 4 new tyres for her 2023 Porsche Macan.

The rears are 295/35 R21 103Y

The fronts are 265/40 R21 101Y

She was about to pull the trigger on some generic crap tyres as the price was good (!) I've had words and hopefully she's seen the error of her ways! :D

She doesn't want to break the bank (to which my thought is change the stupid bloody car she really doesn't need!) - but I don't want her putting ditch finding tat on either...

Thanks in advance. :)

Edit after a brief bit of reading, Kumho Ecsta PS71 SUV ?
