**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

So ordered some Goodyear F1 A2's which should hopefully arrive early next week. Any scenario where you wouldn't put new tyres on rear axle? Sure that's best practice but thought I'd ask anyway.

Will you swap to the new continental?

Potentially but I will need new rears before new fronts and dislike mismatching but if I can get over that then I probably will.

Very odd decision by Goodyear especially as they have 265/35/18 which is the size on my E39 and was typically ignored by everyone!

That seems very odd to exclude 275/35/19, that size is the bread and butter 19" size across lots of 19" rim cars. Pretty much the whole high end Mercedes range run on that size for example, they are the size I bought for years and years over a couple of different cars.

Does frequent driving on roundabouts cause unusual tyre wear?

I've started to notice understeer turning right after 8k miles. I'll get them rotated, hoping that will fix it. It might just be the colder weather though and so grip levels are lower than I'm used to in the dry.

Exactly, and yet 265/35/18 is in there quite early on despite being a fairly obscure size found only really on old E39's, the E Class on 18's and 15 year old 911's...

I'm getting 4 new tyres for my ST - 225/40/18 need something decent with a hard side wall with it soon to be 260bhp through the front wheels. I'm looking at:
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2.
Goodyear efficient Grip
Pirelli P Zero Nero
All on offer around £80-85 each on black circles any ideas what's the best to go for? The Hankook's have the most money off at the minute but not many reviews for them.

Shouldn't you be looking at a UHP tyre? The Efficient Grip is a good but mid range tyre.
I suppose but I will probably only keep the car Untill the summer as I never keep cars longer than 12 months :D so just want something half decent for grip in the wet so it doesn't wheel spin. Premium tyres are all £100+ And not worth paying out for if I'm only going to get 6 months out of them before selling.
Is it the good year eagle f1's and pilot sport 3's that are meant to be good? They are £100 each.

Not the goodyear as it has pretty soft sidewalls. I'd go for something like a Yokohama V105S if you are looking to spend £80-£85.

Are Pirelli P Zero Nero's any good? Going to need a new pair of tyres on my Fiesta ST very soon and noticed Kwik Fit have these for £77 each fitted and they will come to your door and do it!

Sounds too good to be true, but it appears that the tyre came 3rd overall in evo magazines 2015 tyre test so it must be pretty decent!

Edit: Think it is , looks like the one that came third isn't a "nero". Is there a difference?

I thought the P zero's were good when I had them on my ST220 Mondeo. Seems cheap for them! They are normal £85-£90

That is what I thought but is the "nero" a different (worse) tyre?

Most places only seem to do one Pirelli tyre in my size and that the is the nero so i'm not sure.

I'm sure the Nero is the cheapest about £85 normally then the Rosso is similair priced. Not sure on the difference. They were the best tyre I had on my old St220 though compared to Avon and Falkens.
Black circles have £40 off Hankook's at the minute meaning there £85 each and I seen a few members on a Ford forum raving about them on 400bhp Cosworths etc so I might give them a try on my ST.

Yeh Hankook Ventus V12 evo 2 are only £71 each fitted in my size

They seem well reviewed as well - came 4th overall in Autoexpress's 2015 tyre test - above Eagle F1's! 4th here as well http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2015-AMS-Performance-Tyre-Test.htm

Perhaps I will go for those.

I'd strongly disagree with that, for me they are the worst tyre I have personally used. As I have found it to be highly unpredicable in the wet conditions.
