Unreal Tournament news on the horizon!

To be honest there is quite a bit of conflict on the forums. Many people want different things, getting a coherent direction will be hard.

I just hope that the devs realise that it needs to be a new game, most people on the forums seem to be pandering essentially for a remake which would be a terrible thing imo. Sure take inspiration from parts of the old game but also realise the places where the game needs evolution.

I really liked the onslaught mode from ut2k4 and would like to see them improve on it for this game, but on the other hand ut99 was awesome for classic modes like ctf and deathmatch.

It seems most people want epic to make a back to basics game like ut99 but I hope they include a decent onslaught mode.

I played some original UT earlier and it looks awesome at 1080p :D

Found a dx10 renderer aswell (which is a bit buggy stick to opengl for multiplayer) which makes the game look a bit more vibrant and more sharp.

Everytime I have a session on UT I have to play Facing Worlds lmao.

Great to hear those classic themes, lets not talk about how long ago they were released :o:D

Epic have posted an update showing a glimpse at some early Death Match builds! things are moving forward:cool:

in that video if you know about that engine and how it works with the tools what they showed is about 30 minutes work :p

choose fps type game to make then the map they on is the default map .

very interested in this would be nice to see a proper fps title on the pc again. been so long since games like unreal, doom , quake made fps title great.

Well I guess that takes us 30 min's closer to lift off then Dg:p

What I really enjoyed about the clip was how much fun they're all having:cool:

It's what UT has always been about to me and I'm pondering a few ideas to contribute myself (knowing one or two things about the engine myself Dg;))

What takes a bit longer is that they've been prototyping lots of different movement systems, etc. to test in those stock environments too try and get the right feel for the next game.

Given what they managed to do in Dishonored with the older unreal engine I have high hopes they can make something that feels good to move about with.

Yup really hoping for the fast & fluid feel of 99, it looks good from the vid.

Also hope theres a map editor along the lines of the ut99 one, quick & easy to make some fun maps.

Apparently lots of original level designers and composers are ready to step up to the plate:eek::cool:

The future of UT seems very bright:cool::)

I dunno seems kind of disappointing the entire way they have gone about this new UT

Its like they want the crowd to make it and buy the tools to do it (yes blah blah you can pay once then cancel subscription) its still a epic ********, at least with the originals games you paid once for the game and got the modding tools.

Its like hmm how can we get people to use our engine tools and pay for subscription, lets announce UT4, but lets not say we have done sweet nothing except put together a group of employees who will work on the game.

It's almost like a kickstarter project only lamer because they showed absolutely nothing about how they actually imagine this game to be or what they want to do.

I'd be ok if they at least had some set goals, like wanting make the game menu similar to the original Unreal Tournament, wanting to bring in similar music themes as the original etc.. graphics style, etc.. is nothing. Looks like it will just be a just a mess of a project.

There aren't enough facepalms on the internet to cover that one Guest2, ;)
It's a testbed environment for the new UT, UT99 has no shader code or anything like that, just simply geometry made from primitives, static lighting and a hell of a lot of gameplay.
:)
