Unreal Tournament news on the horizon!

Just watched the video above.

Can't wait for this. However, it's not going to be as good as UT'99. Those are some of my best memories in gaming and they won't be replaced.

Also they need to create a new back to basics UT. NO vehicles and NO double jump. And I hope they bring back some exact replications of Face, Coret and Gauntlet :)

Sniper rifle. My best friend :p

I would love to see a new Unreal game, the FPS not the MP, as I quite liked the original.

Of course I am really looking forward to this new game especially Facing Worlds as that's, to me, the best MP map in any game save for chimkey_l in TFC.

I hope that Unreal Three will follow along at some point also, perhaps this is just Epic's way of gauging the community:cool::)

2003 was better than 2004 to me.I hope it's more like 2003.

Eh? 2004 was 2003, just with extra maps and an extra game mode (Onslaught) wasn't it? :S

In any case, this is great news! While I was always more of a Quake2 & Quake3 multiplayer gamer I still loved the Unreal series, and also feel that decent twitch FPS gaming is severely lacking right now (unless you go back and play Quake Live or something I guess, but a new game would be nice). I couldn't get on with either Shootmania or Nexuiz which are the main recent ones I can think of, though I appreciated what they were trying to do.

Some great discussions going on over at the Unreal Tournament forum:cool:

One of the Dev's has suggested how Epic and he personally would like the UE4 UT to take some cues from the earlier generations moving away from the UT3/GOW look:) Bright colours and more athletic meshes seem to also be popular thoughts.

Visual style:
Crisp and clean yet still graphically beautiful and not overly simplistic. I’d love to create a graphical evolution of some of the original UT look. I feel like this needs to have the same DNA. We moved away from that a bit too far with UT3 and would like to move back to a cleaner, more colorful visual style a more UT-centric style.

We have a much nicer lighting setup in UE4 so we can do a lot more with materials than in previous titles so simple geometry should look a lot better and support a cleaner look without having to be too sterile.

We will want to run at a fast framerate, and we also want to look good on a variety of PC hardware from moderate-low to high end.

Simplifying the content a bit should have the added bonus of visual clarity to the play areas and also allow for a lower barrier to entry and better accessibility for artists and collaborators allowing them to create or emulate content in the newer UT styles without feeling overwhelmed or taking too much time to create.

Sounds uuuummm....EPIC!!!:o:D:D
