Last night was pretty mental. Everyone in Derby could hear Metallica set last night! I live 6 miles away(As the bird flies) and could hear and at some times feel it. The clear sky allowed the sound to travel up to about 10 miles.. My colleagues could hear it 8-9 miles away and a friend who lives just over 10 miles away could. It got even louder towards the end of the set as well as the encore. They have another set on Sat evening as well so unless the thunder storms come and put some moisture in the air i can see it being the same tomorrow.

I catch a lot of new music on Radio 6, and one of the latest I've come across is Hak Baker. I've just spotted he's doing a 1hr acoustic set at Rough Trade records in Nottingham on Monday, so am going to pop over and catch that. If it's any good will probably see his proper show in Manchester later in the year.

This one has a bit of an Ian Dury vibe to me

Apparently Metallica was heard 15 miles away last night..

Evanescence/Bring me the horizon tonight, Metallica again tomorrow night and Slipnot on Sunday night.. :o Gonna be fun weekend.
Was disappointed by Evanescence when I saw them last year. The Pretty Reckless were far better a couple of weeks before.

Just booked Pulp in London as a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday. Also got pre-sale tickets to Royal Blood for October too, let's hope they're not entirely cancelled by then :p

(I've seen them live twice I think, they may have mellowed a bit musically since the first/two albums, but I seem to recall thinking they were awesomely heavy live, and a very good show. So meh to all the haters)
Saw Pulp at the Neighbourhood Weekender a couple weeks ago.

They were properly decent. Great stage show and a huge collective sing-song.

Others I saw were Kula Shaker which was awesome, Gaz Coombes was good, The Kooks were a laugh.

The missus watched Paul Heaton while I was trying to contain my inebriated sister. She's a force not to be reckoned with....

I’m not a huge metal head but there’s something about Metallica. They’re definitely on my bucket list to see live but I’m not prepared to camp at a festival to do so :p

Awesome to hear. Glad you had a good time!

There's both Nottingham and Derby a bus ride away (extra buses laid on for Download) if you want to stay in a Hotel etc instead.

Sounds like a one-way ticket to a madman's situation.

(I love that song \o/)

A bump of a 2007 post just to make that joke  :D

I've also got tickets for Bowling for Soup booked for next February and my mate has bought tickets for The Sisters of Mercy for November.

I'm booked to see Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs and Dream Wife at the end of September / mid October

Addition: Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters in August.
Yes, That Billy Bob Thornton.

Back from the Civic Halls in Wolves watching Amon Amarth at the start of their European tour. Due to the gig being just a few days after the Download Festival the crowd was smaller than usual which was both good (more space) and a little bad (for the bands finances) I guess.

The show was similar to the one I saw back in September '22 just without all the indoor pyro/fireworks but it still had the 30ft Vikings, Loki messing with the band, a Viking long boat on stage, Thor’s Hammer smacking a sea serpent, Viking battle re-enactments around the band during the songs and this time, for something I didn't see at the earlier gig, 200+ people from the front to the very back of the venue all sat on the floor rowing in time to the drummer during "Put Your Back Into The Oar" - epic silliness.

Next up is Biohazard in July back in Wolves again.

Went to Screaming Females @Oslo, Hackney on Wednesday.

Small, intimate venue which really plays to their strengths. Played half of the songs from their latest album, Desire Pathways, and a selection of other favourites. They are such a solid band and it was great to watch Marissa Paternoster live, long one of my favourite guitarists. Dragged the other half along, much to her chagrin.
