urgent help on 1st build!

If you're returning it under the DSA just ask for a refund, if you're confident it's in the same condition as you received it.

Using this method you can just order a replacement today - ordered replacement memory should be with you by Tuesday.

Otherwise it will be Thursday at the very earliest using exchange method - it's very dependent on how busy they are.

well, the RAM itself is in the same condition, the packaging isn't. I've still got it, but it's a bit bent out of shape.

the Mobo, i've still got the box, perfectly intact and all, and the antistatic bag + manuals, infact I think everything for the mobo.

how can I order a replacement today? thought OcUK are closed on Sundays?

Took a look at the RAM Packaging, and with a bit of pushing and a small bit of sellotape, it should look good as new lol.

I'd really like to avoid the long process and get it over with, so that I can try the new RAM and hopefully get everything working, but if it's not the RAM then I can immediately request a motherboard or whatever, depending on what you guys think.

Order it via their website - it will be processed tomorrow.

I'm taking it for granted that you mean:- order a new set now and request a rma/refund via a web note/call on your present set?

that would be kind of a risk though...wouldn't it? If I buy a new set, but when I give them a ring they don't refund the cost or send it anyway. I'll make a thread in the RMA section and see what they say.

It is a risk, yes.

A thread in customer services is advised - but until they see the package/memory they won't be able to advise you either way. TBH, if you returned it expecting a refund you would probably get it - a post in customer services may cast a little doubt over it... If you returned it for an exchange you'll almost definitely get one as they are assured of keeping your custom.

Having said that memory is one of the easiest components to return via the DSA - it's usualy hassle free.

If worried or in doubt - just return it asking for an exchange - eliminate any ambiguity.

and exchange would be painfully slow, but i'm hoping they can send me a new set of RAM free of charge, or +- the difference in cost, and i'll send them back my current RAM.

oh dear =(

then again it's probably a good idea, incase anyone needs to post account information or whatever.

Lost me a bit there as i can't read your post in the customer services forum - as explained above.

However, you will incur p&p costs for them to post out your replacement RAM - be it: a new order or an exchange.

fair enough, P&P shouldn't be too much though (hopefully.)

i'll keep you posted with the customer service thread.

Hi lads, just finished my rebuild (picture here), but I didn't come up with any new ideas from it other than "take it all to bits and put it back together again", but i'm sure you've tried that.

Hopefully when OCUK open tommorrow you will be able to form a new plan of action.

looks great mate! hope you had fun with it lol, but yeah, tomorrow should be enlightening at the very least =)

the main thing im hoping for now is to get the part RMA/Exchange saga out of the way, and quickly. I much prefer having things and working with them, then sending stuff around or waiting a few days for parts lol.

again on the plus side (optimism for the win!) i'll also be getting my Proliminatech Megahalem and Scythe fan when the new RAM arrives, since i'll be cancelling the TRUE tomorrow when I call.

I've been in and out of this thread, one thing I don't have full comprehension of.

If your Motherboard speaker, which is believed to be incorporate isn't making any noises at all, how do you know its faulty ram, faulty ram should make some mobo beeps.

unfortunately mate my motherboard doesn't actually have a speaker =(

I'm pinning it on incompatible RAM because another person in the link a couple of pages ago has nearly exactly the same spec as me, and when he changed the ram, his problem was solved.

Hi lads, just finished my rebuild (picture here),

I like that case: the bars are really practical for users who keep fiddling with internals and it’s still looks sleek/stylish. I doubt you have any heat issues with the ‘Prolimatech Megahalems’ braced by 2 Noctuas coupled with the 3 out-takes and the bottom intake. Do you have the optional HDD fan fitted too?

Did you hit a brick wall at 3.6GHz or are you happy with an uncomplicated and probably very stable clock? (which seems eminently sensible to me - if that was the case)

just realised that I still haven't chosen replacement RAM.

this kingston should be fine right?

I'm trusting that reviewer, so I hope he wrote the write mobo down lol.

It should be fine as the Kingston is pretty slutty – but keeping with the theme of that metaphor; memory is perverse stuff and as it’s only a matter of waiting 10 hrs I would ring OC’s tomorrow and have them confirm it. (But I’m 99.9% sure that they will say it’s fine.)
