Vega 56 worth it at around £200?

5700 is a bit inflated but then its competitor is far worse and these new "super" cards from nvidia will be much more.
Even if the 5700 was 50 quid a pop cheaper, numpties would still by 2070s over it because... nvidia.

5700 is worse price/performance than its competitor the 2060.
5700XT is better price/performance than its competitor of the 2070.

The 1660ti can be had for £250, the Red Dragon Vega 56 can be had for £265, the 1660 can be had for £190 and the RX 580 can be had for £145 (although that expires today PM me if you need details)

So I would argue all of those are mid range products.

Also TBF to the manufacturers Vega lost money and the pound is worth less so everything will cost more. IF we could buy $2 for a pound the new Navi 5700XT would be around £300 but we voted for Brexit
I remember when a mars bar was 14p and a packet if walkers c and o was 11p. Stupid brexit  a guy was walking his dog and it had a no2 on the pavement and he did not pick it up, i blame brexit  at least its hot weather now because of brexit :D

This type of post is absolute nonsense though.
The pound has been affected by the referendum to about 15% or so. That's substantial.

The 5700 is supposed to be a bit faster than the 2070 as well, prob comes out roughly similar give or take 2 or 3% to the "supers"

But it wont sell anything like the 2070 - still a solid card, just a little overpriced - would be nice to see £40-£50 quid off it.

Nope the pound has been affected by lack luster tory leadership dragging their heels, i mean really...3 years. It would take me less time to train to become a politician.

The government has caused this debacle.

No it's not.

2060 is $349 and 5700 is $379.

The only benchmarks we have are AMDs and the 5700 is at least 10% better on average than the 2060 at 1080p.

AMD aren't that stupid.

So the 5700 is very slightly better price/performance than a 2060 then.

It's only because I've been reading what Cats said lol.

Everything's still crap pricing, but at least AMD is slightly less crap :p

Brexit made the pound drop massively FACT Hence everything we buy costs more because of worthless currency

I don't rememeber current generation ever being that inexpensive, I paid in the region of £230- £250 for a GTX280 and GTX680 and both we EOL clearance deals from OCUK at much reduced prices along with many midrange cards for £200 - £300.

I do. I remember getting the radeon 9700 pro and feeling hard done by parting with £200. This was around Christmas 2002. Nowadays thats getting you an entry mid tier offering. I can stomach top of the line being toward £500 from inflation, but its more than double that which is milking the ****.

In 1999 I bought an Nvidia Riva TNT2 when it first came out for £99.99. The Ultra version was £149.99. That was Nvidia's full line up. There was nothing faster.

If you take inflation into account, £99.99 is like £172 now. The Ultra version would be £250.

I've just bought a Vega 56 for £200 which sits nicely in the price range above. I don't understand why anyone would feel happy about spending more that £250 on a GPU today.

Totally concur. I have had good GPUs since my first dedicated purchase the voodoo 3 3000. Dipping into nvidia also, my typical price bracket was £150-250. I think it started to get silly around the GTS 8800 where I started to reign it in and got forced into mid tier shenanigans.
