US: Vikings - anyone else watching this ?

i both like cripple guy and lothe him.dont think hes dead.seems to easy after building up his character as a bad ass.

as for lagatha dont get the issue.the sex or show seems that they do as they please or open about anything sexual so does it matter if shes a lesbo or not.i dont mind :D

The show just winds me up in general since the last season. I only watch it since my wife wants to. It just has too many pointless/bad decisions in the storyline like:

- Rolo learns fluent French in just a few months. I know it's a TV show, but he could have at least spoken in broken English or made pronunciation errors to add a bit of realism to it.
- Bjorn marries that girl, then she gets injured and just leaves. Pointless! Should have just killed her so it had some emotional impact.
- Bjorn has a daughter who dies whilst he's away and then it just skips ahead like 10 years so we don't see his reaction or its impact on him. Again pointless!
- Ragnar spends the whole last season getting high with his Chinese slave who has an unlimited supply of some mysterious Chinese drug which she's somehow managed to smuggle all the while she was a slave and being shipped around. In the end he just drowns her, so I have zero empathy left for him.

As you can tell, I'm great to watch TV with :p

I'm not sure how they'll be able to carry on for long once Ragnar is dead. There are a few other interesting characters like Ivar, Bjorn and Lagertha but they don't have the same presence on the screen that Ragnar does, even in the current crazy version of himself.

What is Ragnar's play with the King here? I just don't get what he is trying to achieve?

My guess is
Ragnar either has some kind of plot to overthrow King Aelle directly, or more likely is trying to martyr himself to bring about a Viking invasion of Aelle's kingdom, perhaps led by Ivar, thus bringing about the start of the Danelaw.

Well that was an intense episode - gripping stuff, if hard to watch at times.

Brave writing to tackle Ragnar's demise mid season, I thought they'd drag it out until the end of the season finale somehow. Kept half expecting a last minute reprieve, but once the snakes came out of the bags I knew it was going to be final. Will be interesting to see how the show changes now, there's plenty of strong and interesting characters, but none come anywhere close to Ragnar.

Yeah was very powerful. It was very close to the events of the real Ragnor. Can wait to see what happens next.
