Violence in Selfridges and "drill music"

Translates to;

Someone has said something that fits my preconceived prejudices. This must therefore be correct and all other probable answers are wrong. Dowie is a bad man. Bad dowie. Bad.
Additionally, if dowie was not referring to this definition, or was not even aware of it, he still meant it this way. And any protestations on his part are further evidence of his guilt.
I literally asked him what he meant by it :cry:

He seems to think there is some deeper meaning or something, I genuinely don’t know what he wants here.

The thing is, there is. Urban has been used to describe black youths for years. It's also a derogatory description.

Either you're ignorant of that, which is fine, or you know and are hiding behind a keyboard.

Violent black youths, it's a deserved derogatory term. No one is using the term "Urban Youth" to describe upstanding members of the community.

What? I always took "urban yoot" to encompass all the trackie-wearing, uneducated violent types, regardless of ethnicity.

You got beef wiv me innit bruv?

If someone wants to perceive something as being racist, they will do regardless. It's a control mechanism to discredit any argument.

Given that dlocker has already said he's never heard the phrase before there is no reason to assume it means anything other than the overt meaning present from the words urban and youth.
Unless he's talking crap.
Also worth noting that multiple people, including dowie, gave a meaning that he rejected. He was only happy when someone gave a potentially derogatory definition.

Dowie said it meant an elderly person living in the countryside?

God you lot need to take yourself to one side and have a word. None of you seem to care about the story you just care about getting 1 up on your fellow man over the internet. Newsflash, no one cares.

Words are important and so is context. I was just trying to understand what it meant in this context. Not sure why it has triggered so many of you all.

Newsflash, no one cares about black boys throwing a manikin whilst brandishing shoe horns. Curious as to why the thread was even created. Seems @dowie just wanted to highlight black boys throwing some stuff in Selfridges to GD for some reason?

You're more interested in interrogating the choice of language used than you are about young black adults potentially taking each others lives in the middle of our high streets on a regular basis, that's what you should be discussing. No one wants to see that, it's shocking behaviour and is turning our communities into places people do not feel safe. I'm so glad I live in the North where this type of thing is very uncommon.

I think he wanted to talk about knife crime and gang violence, and it's close association with 'drill music'. But all you seem to care about is what 'urban youth' means.

Have a good one.
