Violence in Selfridges and "drill music"

Unfortunately @dowie drags people into what is known as the dowie hole, and a lot of the members in Speakers Corner have him on ignore. That is why he is making so many threads in GD.

Unfortunately GD are more interested in the banter than the topic at hand, hence how all of these threads end up in roughly the same way as this one has.

You were the one who homed in on two words in the OP, continuously looking for some kind of gotcha moment.

For goodness sake.... :p

There is a value in referring to broad groups of identifiable people in typical conversation. It is obvious that dowie used the phrase in a generic sense without any intention to condemn every person within that category

If you disagree with the use of language in this manner, to avoid hypocrisy do make sure you never use the phrases ‘men’, ‘woman’, [insert gender / nationality / religion / race] ever again - instead, always say ‘some people’. It’ll be the only way to avoid falling foul of your self-imposed (and wholly unnecessary) dilemma :p
The poster is yet to identify what broad group he was meaning, as the dictionary definition I was offered doesn't really make one bit of sense in the context. His discomfort in directly answering the question indicates it isn't the simplest definition in this case.

Lmao the OP asks about knife crime laws you've posted in here about 15 times all of it about semantics. And you have the audacity to talk about people not talking about the topic at hand.

Mods this has got to be grade A trolling surely?

Amazing that the conversation has shifted to whether or not "Urban youths" is an acceptable term rather than yet another case of young men attempting to kill each other, in Selfridges of all places.

The video shows a black kid having an argument with a white man? His group separates them from the man. Unless I'm missing something.

It's a deflection to get away from the uncomfortable topic of violent knife crime being committed by mostly young black males.

It's not uncomfortable, people know the reasons, mainly poverty. It's only uncomfortable because it's easier to blame black people instead of fixing the causes.

You did, immediately trying to question OPs intentions rather than discussing the topic at hand.

Because the thread basically started out as 'lol black people at it again' and jumping to conclusions based on someone involved being the son of Mark Duggan.

If someone wants to perceive something as being racist, they will do regardless. It's a control mechanism to discredit any argument.

accusation of racism > *

I suppose only dowie can give you an express release from your conundrum, but I really do think that this is your own conundrum and a self-imposed issue (to the point where I’m not surprised dowie has responded how he has - his sarcastic response of ‘old people from the countryside’, or whatever, should make it clear what he meant).

Yet similar crime isn't committed by young white males from a similar socioeconomic background. There's a lot of poverty in West Yorkshire and there has been for decades, yet there isn't the same problem of people stabbing each other, maybe try again.
