Why? I know on other packages you get the traffic management between those hours, but as 50mb has no throttling why does this make a difference?

Because VM say you are ruining it for everybody else who are on a lower download.
I don't believe this is true for 1 second because that's saying that 50 meg customers get priority downloads which is balls.

Oh right and on the letter it actually mentions the 9am-9pm thing?. Noob question but exactly what are the 'threats' of these letters?

A year ago or so when I was on the phone to VM - billing department the man said "Wow, you've downloaded 200GB this month, never seen anybody download that much, most people are download 5-10GB a month. Hehe

Had mine upgraded this week, very happy so far. Not had a chance to see if I'm 'managed' on astra yet, but will check:

That's a bit slower than normal - will test again tomorrow.

The Engineer that installed mine said 200Mb would be in my area by next year... anyone else hear anything of the sort?

He said the hub thing was already geared up to receive it.

I was told by the engineer that installed mine that the hub was good for up to 400Mbit/s

My area has just been upgraded for 100Mb. If it was only an extra £5 I would have it but they want an extra £10 so not worth it.

Cant seem to get the full 50mb through groups consistant, if using L2TPIPsec it kills the connection to the router. I'm thinking thats virgins doing as they dont like it, its consistant.

Hey guys,

I have a question about upgrading from 30MB to 50MB. I've only had my Virgin broadband for 2 days, since moving house and I wish I would have gone for the 50Mb package instead of 30, so I am looking to upgrade.

However on their website it shows that I will be charged a £40 engineer installation fee. This is from the "Change package" option on the My Virgin page.

I have the Superhub already, so does anyone have any experience with this? Surely they won't need an engineer to come out when they have just installed a Superhub 2 days ago?

My net has been bad for the last few days, lagging in game and on skype.. Speeds earlier were as low as 6Mb/s

Ping is high, download is low, upload is low =/

EDIT: Now 8pm

low one minute, high the next (high only being 30)
