Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Not in the Gateshead area, It's still says being planned on the roll out schedule, it's nigh on the only one left!!.

Yeah, I too am in the Gateshead area. A mate of mine boasted how his got bumped up to 100Mb the other day and he's just across the Tyne river in Newcastle. Sacrilege! They can't even do both areas at the same time?

And there's still no date for when we will get it!, it's not very nice being last :(

Still rubbish! Worse than R26 for me.

The point of R29 is you can enable modem mode in the management page and use your old router.

Notice the side menu has a lot less features now.

Just got 50mb today, speed and everything is fine but the wireless... it's utter turd!

I could barely play a game of Fifa 11 on my PS3, online. I've turned off IP flooding, changed to 54Mbps for Wireless G connections and changed my channel to a random one. What else can make it better?

Is it possible to somehow use my WRT54GL as a wireless router along with the 'Super'hub?

Well you can use your WRT54GLs wireless and router instead if that is better. Personally I'd never connect a PS3 wirelessly, I've had loads of issues so went wired and no problems since.

I have wireless PS3's and also wired ones, i've had no problems at all ever with wireless.

Yeah the WRT54GL was flawless including its wireless with the PS3 and I'd easily use it again. It's either that or buy homeplugs which I'd rather not spend money on, so is there a guide where I can get my Linksys working with the Superhub?

Thanks

No the point of R29 was bug fixes and improvements. Modem mode is just one of the additional features enabled.

BTW, Dont know what up with your firmware but I have many more option than that.

I got my 50mb two weeks ago and yeah i pretty much echo everything else already said about it. speed is brilliant, no problems whatsoever. The wireless side of the superhub though, shocking. I've had to turn mine off just to stop the router locking up daily. slightly annoying.

Ringing now to nion demand a WNMG300 :)

EDIT: Got through finally, bloke claimed they didn't provide it anymore, I said I wanted a new superhub then and I'll source my own router in a few weeks time, he claimed he couldn't send it due to me being at work and not being able to check my settings, which I said was rubbish, demanded a router, and now its on its way :)

What router did you get and are you attaching it to your WNMG300?

I enabled modem mode, which disables all the wireless and routing functionality of the Superhub.

I've had my Superhub for a week now and haven't had any issues, the Gbit wired has been rock solid and I only use the wireless for my iPhone and occasionally my laptop. Plus I live in a modern build with thin walls so range seems to be fine.

£120 a month, Virgin should throw in a free Virgin for that amount of cash! I think you have a lot of bargaining power with virgin and free upgrades shouldn't be a problem.

cough* that's cheap compared to my bill from sky. I'll still keep sky as well.

I signed up for the 100mb over the phone he waived the £70 to £30 for install.

I just wondered how much work they have to actually do, as i have two cable lines already, one downstair and one upstairs.

Beenom (my brother) you are lucky using the ethernet cable while I am suffering poor wireless speed:mad:;)

I have found that since switching from Linksys WRT54GL router to Virgin Superhub, the wireless peformance has flopped:confused:. Btw I am using NetGear WN111v2 USB wireless adapter.

Could it be that superhub transmission of radio waves is weak and hence the frequency of waves reaching wireless adapter is weak?

So as Beenom stated, is it possible to use Linksys WRT54GL router instead of virgin superhub router or use the former with latter to transmit signals?
