That's pretty much the same speed - 86mb/sec = 10.4MB/sec. I'm on 50mb and i regularly get 6MB/sec with usenet.

Hmm... I can get 30mb for £18.50pm (no line rental fee) or 50mb for £6.5 more. Is 50mb unlimited?

Both are unlimited, but the 50MB doesn't have its download shaped when you go over a certain amount per day.

The 30MB gets shaped to 7.5MB if you download more than 10GB between 9am-3pm or more than 5GB between 4pm-9pm. After those hours is unshaped.

How did you manage to get it so cheap?

Started getting a lot of packet loss which is making xbox unplayable at the moment, not sure if it's connection or not but I'm getting annoyed >:-/

I've been getting this problem. Mine's caused by an oversubscribed UBR. Virgin won't do anything about it unless 10% of the people in the area complain and that's hardly likely to happen because most people aren't gamers so it won't affect them.

Virgin is rubbish. They take on too many customers without doing the necessary upgrades to their lines and this is the result.

im on 50mb 1.5mb upload, in classed as croydon where i am so oldest cable network so still updating!

I'm currently on 10 meg with Virgin so what's the score with upgrading to 50 meg?

When I spoke to them on the phone then mentioned I would need a new cable modem and that an engineer would need to come out to the property. What does the engineer do change the cabling or purely install the new modem.?

And before you ask, I know I should have asked when inquiring!
