Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Yup thanks, rebooted and getting 846Mbps down and 100Mbps upload, think that is decent for 1gig bb while under a vpn on wireguard and peak time no less.

Reminds me only got a 1gig ethernet ports on desktop pc also, hopefully see it closer to 1gig down the road when I get 2.5 ethernet ports.

So, did you guys who recently gave your 30 day notice that said no to the first call get a phone call towards the end of your contract?

I gave my notice in, got a call next day, best the guy could do was £29 for 1gb line, but that is with me having an O2 sim. That seem poor to me when other here have better deal like £28 without any O2/virgin sim. Told him about community fibre being here and being a better deal, but he could not improve his offer so I said no thanks.

Will see if I get another call back again. Community Fibre are taking their time and even though they should be ready any time now, they may well be another 3 months or more if they having issues somewhere. If Virgin offer me a better deal I may well go with them for anither 18 months. Otherwise might go with another company doing 30 day contracts and wait until around Black Friday and join community fibre then. They seem to do very good deal around that time and should be here by then. Can deal with a slower line for a few months, not a huge deal :D

Know of 5 people in my county area (not just city) who all have not got the new speeds and not a single one who has it, so seems might be done in waves or something, but certianly the majority on the internet nationally are reporting they have the new speeds.

Yeah that sounds normal, I think they have other teams I got numerous calls after giving my 30 day cancellation notice but it was not from retensions team (the team that can do the proper discounted offers) just the normal sales team trying to keep me as a customer. You may need to wait till the end with few days to go and hopefully get a better deal. Also don't forget quidco, topcashback and hotukdeals post offers on VM deals time to time.

I guess one can cancel at last day if no offer comes through, VM sales team and Rentensions no doubt have caught onto people trying the account swap or ill cancel for a better deal or im going to sky or fibre optic gameplan though so they might be calling ones bluff also.

When I told them I wanted to go Community fibre the guy almost hanged up, just said oh well we can't match that your better off going there.

Have started getting random disconnects today similar to what was happening a few weeks ago, anyone else?

nothing my end shockingly.... and I usually get at least several down times per month regularly like clockwork. Only reason I hang around with vm is they are quick to repair the bb issues usually hours or 1 day and a new much cheaper contract plan.

Check Virgin media down detector, if the VM status page is not updated correctly or down its usually a good hint something is up.

My 1Gb got the 100Mb upload upgrade, as did my best pals here in Preston - happy days. Still think it's a little too late as many people have already jumped to FTTP - hopefully there will be a price war which is good for us all.

Let's see how it goes. But ain't paying £29 which is essentially for a 500mb line (I have a O2 sim which would double it to 1gb). If they can offer it for £25 then I may stay with them for another 18 months.

Crazy that they do not want to compete. Thing is, once a customer leaves, they likely won't come back for a very long time if ever. For the sake of a few quid they should try and compete and keep customers.
