Retentions + quidco

got retentions to match the quidco offer at the time (£120 or £150, I forget now) + they gave me free installation/activation + 12 month contract

Ended up at either £30 or £25/month for the first 12 months... £40 after

Signed up for TV, phone and 50meg BB today with VM. Getting it installed next week. Sad to leave Be after a couple of years and hope I haven't made a mistake as it been rock solid max connection all the time, but its only about 16meg and I want faster! In the RG30 area so who knows how congested it will be!

Just upgraded from Be to virgin 50mb myself. V happy with the speeds and ping (48-49 up, 5 down and ping around 17, no packet loss) but twice now in a few days my machine which is connected via a wired gbit switch to the superhub has lost all internet connection???

Wireless is on but only used occassionally on a laptop. Anything I can play about with or do I just need to reset the superhub every time?

Ive only gott he 20MB connection which has been great for the last 5 years when it started at 1meg and then upgraded over the years. But last week i lost all connection and tried rebooting my modem and router. It did connect for 30 minutes one evening allowing me to do my online transfers but it was off again last night (24/10). Better be on tonight as i need to do more important stuff grrr.

go into the router settings and try turning off the firewall and ip flood detection.

also, double check the firware level, should be on r30.

other option is to run the sh as a modem only and get your own router.

Will give that a whirl thanks. I'd already turned off flood detection but isn't losing the hardware firewall a bit of a big deal, or is consensus that win7 firewall is robust enough now?

I saw a mobile only mode at the bottom of advanced settings, so assume I'm running r30. What routers are recommended to pair up?

Pretty slow, apparently.

VM have now admitted BN2 has high utilisation and are going to upgrade but don't have any dates, bloody typical, and BF3 is out on friday!

hmmm i am downloading at 14.97MB/sec currently :/

Only on 50mb and according to their list Seven Kings exchange not going to 100MB until Dec-11

Aaaand this is why I'm switching to an Infinity VDSL based product.

Big congratulations go out to whichever PMO idiot decided that a good strategy would be to sell 100s of 30Mb subscriptions to heavy usage students without making any infrastructure changes first.

Only time I get 30Mb is in the morning when they are all in bed hung over. Great.

Reset everything, was fine an hour ago? Virgin seem insistent on sending out an engineer.

Had TiVo installed about lunch time, could that make matters worse?

I just want to play sodding BF3 with no lag!
