Virgin Media Discussion Thread

ok got it working.

Cheers for posting these, it awful too see ADSL2 having such a more stable ping that Cable as its totally backwards when you look at the tech behind them :(

My connection seems to have improved over the last 12hrs but overall its still crap compared to how I remember cable being. If I had a BT phone line in our house I would just switch to ADSL2 or FFTC ...

Yeah I recently moved (albeit in to a flat in the same building) and so moved my virgin. I can get max speed FTTC. I hadn't even thought about it till my VM started being pants. :(

My Tivo service is brilliant however (i cannot get Sky +HD in my building) and by having the lowest phone package I get money off compared with if I just had BB and TV.

I do plan on moving again in six months so will have to see then. For now I just call them whenever its pants on my virgin landlind so its free :P. I have refused to speak to anyone in India so I eventually get put through to complaints or the people you discuss why you want to leave with who are all ways based in the UK I have found.

Mine seems to be settling

Hey guys, I have had enough I have just sent this email to the CEO of VM.

Hi Neil.

I have been a customer with VirginMedia for close to 8 years now. I have recently moved house, and since then I have had problems with your Internet connection.

My connection is extremely unstable and I'm getting crazy packet loss during peak time. I am on the 100mb connection and have the XXL TV and the XL Phone too

My details are:-

SECRET!!!!!

I have had an engineer out to my property twice now and both times the problem does not get fixed.

I know the problem is due to an overpopulated network causing massive packet loss issues! Virgin need to upgrade their whole infra-structure. I'm currently being charged for a service which is not as it should be.

I feel this needs resolving in ASAP as I'm spending £80 a month with you.

Here is examples of this (the red bars on graph from the top shows lost packet data on my connection)

I do feel that it is totally unfair to be charging me for a service which to be frank is not what it should be.

Please can you get this resolved for me in a timely manner.

Kind Regards
Lee Bryan

I've had a number of calls to VM Customer Service over the past few months and they've been throwing refund after refund at me each month to try and keep me as a customer, but the fact is the 30Mb service is non existent after 6pm each day. Any ADSL provider recommendations?

Had my 50mb connection running for a few days now.

All you guys seem to be getting better ping tests than me though.

I'm using the superhub with my machine in the DMZ, flood detection off.

Exchange?

Not bad for a VM connection. Create a think broadband latency graph if you want the real picture.

I've had enough now

Constant downtime on the 50mb service. 2 days down a couple of days ago and it's just gone down again.

Is anyone else having this trouble (South East London/Kent area)?

I'm at the end of my tether with it.

I've been credited 3 months, but I just want an ****** usable connection!

I've been credited 3 months too, I've been told the estimated fix date for my area is December 28th - I doubt it'll happen though.

I'm giving them until then and if there's no change I'm gone even though I can only get 8mb adsl in my area at least it will work!

I can only get 2/3mbit on ADSL, I'm seriously considering running both VM and ADSL so I can acually game when I want and not when it is dictated to me.

Can you tell me please, are your guys connections just slow or are they actually dropping regularly?

Neither, if I wasn't bothered about latency I would never notice a problem as most of the time I can download at 6mb/s and sites load quick enough.

It's only because I game that I really care is it constantly lags and pings are far to high compared to what I used to get back in the day...

Exactly this^

What did you do to get credited? Guessing it was ringing retentions?

I complained to the IPSA, the had a phone call from the VM representative who agreed the situation was terrible but there was nothing he could do, he gave me the choice of leaving or a credit, I chose the credit on the basis he said there was a fix in place for Jan 2012.
