well when i got it upgraded to the 50Mb the virgin tech guy told me anything under 40Mb they will come out and find the problem..

they have to put up to because not all sites can handle 50Mb.

I very much doubt traffic management is on the 50Mb package. It's more likely to be a router or modem issue. Have you tried bypassing the router?

yes yesterday i did that and that work for about 1min then it droped to 27-30Mb...

I am on 10 meg line with virgin and i get rubbish ping on call of duty waw 50' and 60's i have had 40s and 35 but not often, 50 and 60 pings just seem to be laggy for me anyway of improving my ping so i can have it at 30 and 40 more often?

Im having problems with my 50mb connection atm, dont know when it started as ive not downloaded anything over 1gb for the last week, but today I cant get over 500kbs down.

The past couple of nights the internet has been playing up around this time, high pings, trouble connecting, basically crap virgin internet and unplayeable xbox live - still on the up to 20mb connection - I guess theyre trying to get us to uprgade!

lol! I very much doubt that they are trying to get you to upgrade. This problem could be caused by lots of different issues, I would suggest getting in touch with Virgin Tech Support and they will troubleshoot the issue with you.

i am looking to buy a router as my linksys wont do speeds more than 30megs on wired, and the router virgin is giving doesnt have DMZ like i want it. added bonus for tomato/ddwrt firmwares

which one should i get?

getting my 20mbit --> 50mbit install next week, i hope it's smooth sailing as it seems from scouring various forums some peeps have an unstable connection and my current 20mbit is bomb proof.

guess it is to be expected from the new docsis 3.0 causing some problems, shame the upload isn't at least 2mbit though.

Why aren't you getting the free Netgear router with your 50mb install ? i am using the one they gave me last Friday for my install and it gets full speeds with no issues for me, i am wired connection mind.

it's the same with all their plans, i mean 768kbps upstream for 20mbit downstream is also a joke ....as soon as you use the upload a little you're pipe is compromised for d/l'ing @20mbit.
