Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Anyone fancy telling me the number they're phoning? I've phoned 3 times now and not once have they known about this upcoming deal, and one of them hung up on me.

Its frakkin ridonkulous. All I want is XXL BB, as cheap as poss.

10mb
large tv
and phone line 11 quid
and we are paying over 50quid every month? should we call up to try and get the price down? i mean we dont use the phone so the price dont change it's something like 55 every month

10mb - £25
m phone - £11
m tv - free.

am I right in thinking that come the 1st I can have the same but 50mb for £1 - £2 more. Craaazy stuff!

Hmmm. Think we're been overcharged for something. We already have XL BB, basic TV and phoneline. Now with upgrading to XXL BB we're been charged £46 a month :\

That was what the woman quoted over the phone when i was booking installation, getting it installed on Thursday. Will give them a ring up this week

We used to get a really amazing Loyalty discount but things changed last year and they seemed to tighten up on the discounts.

We still get a good deal though the below is on a 12 month contract We have 10Mb BB / XL Phone / XL TV / V+ Box / Additional Box for £47.96 I did get a further discount of £44 off the first months bill as I wanted to pay less than £45 a month :)

Ordered XXL BB with basic tv and phone, and I think off the top of my head it came to £46 a month too, which I believe includes the £11 phone line, thingy.... so either way if we're being overcharged at least we're in the same boat :p. It's being installed on the 4th Sept for me.

I have a few simple questions about the upcoming pricing change, apologies if these has been answered dozens of times before in this thread but I've had a quick look through and don't much fancy reading all 15 pages to find out!

I'm currently paying £35/month for standalone XL Broadband (20Mbps), no phone line or other services. I have been doing so for around six months or so, since signing up as a new customer. Going on what has been reported in the press ("Virgin Media complete 50meg rollout and trial 10meg upstream", etc.), I'm led to believe that from 1st September (i.e. tomorrow) the cost of standalone XXL Broadband (50Mbps) will be dropped to £38/month for both new and existing customers.

At the time of these reports it seemed like a no-brainer; I pay £3/month extra and receive 50Mbps instead of 20Mbps. However, reading through this thread and seeing reports of price drops of £7 or £8, an £8 gap between XL and XXL, or the 50Mbps service changing to £45/month has confused me to no end.

I am wondering:

1. Would it be possible to change my plan from paying £35/month for 20Mbps to £38/month for 50Mbps, only incurring an extra £3/month? I don't mind a new 12 month contract

2. Would an engineer visit, installation arrangement, etc. be necessary to upgrade from 20Mbps to 50Mbps?

3. What additional charges would be involved, i.e. a £20 installation charge I've seen mentioned, or a £30 activation fee?

Thanks

Just phoned Virgin and the best price I could get for 50mb, M phone and M TV was £51.50 £8 more than i'm paying now but I have to go from L TV to M TV. saving £4 but the channels are all crud anyway lol.

So i've went from £42.93 to £51.50 a month.

:D

After a chat with a nice lady in retentions, I've got 50mb being installed on the 8th Sept.

XXL Broadband, standard TV and phoneline, £33 per month!

I'm dubious as to whether her discounts will work out like she said, but I've got her name so will be straight back on the blower if not. Result really as I was paying 29 quid a month with 10Mb bb :p

I asked the woman about the £33 deal you got (Donna)
She told me that deal was only available for the 20mb BB

Well, I've definitely got 50mb coming, N router and usb adapter, paid 30 quid activation fee.

Like I say, her discounts she ran through don't necessarily add up as they have a confusing system. I have her name and department and she's put a note on our account detailing it for £33 quid a month so if it comes out at £39 (which it should be from tomorrow) then I'll call back and get its sorted. She seemed confident she'd done me a bespoke discount though so it should be fine. It might help that our contract was up this month and I explained I was looking around for the best deal we could get.

I think I'm tied into another 12 month contract after re-negotiating my contract again in April, nuts I'd have quite liked the 50mb broadband, I wonder if they will budge or offer me it at a decent price?

I'm currently paying £46/mo for -

TV - XL
phone - XL
BB - XL
V+
Caller Display

Not sure I want 50mb but now I'm paying the price of 50 to 20mb

Main services (Provided by Virgin Media Ltd or Virgin Media Payments Ltd) £67.00

So basically nothing has changed if you are on 20mb it's only the 50mb which has come down to £38 month compared to £31 for 20mb.
