Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Further to my post a week ago, I've had my discounts confirmed by another person in customer relations and I'll be getting XXL 50mb BB with my existing M Phone and M TV for £33 per month, installed tomorrow morning :) Looking forward to it!

Was posted on a coupla of baord that I don't think I can mention here at the weekend @ £5 extra for existing customers for 50Mb BB, I think this was only if you went thru retentions tho so not available to all customers.

If i'm only 4 months into my 10MB contract, assume I can not get any deals at all ? :(

Call retentions and tell them you want 50Mb and see what can they do for you
If you just ahve a 10Mb and nothing else(as you don't say) just tell them you want a M phone and 50Mb and they will do it.

I have been with VM for 2 years and I now pay £39 a month for M phone M tv and 50Mb.

Thanks a lot for posting that :-)

I have been with NTL (Now virgin media) for about 6 years. And not only was I overpaying (£37 + £1.25 Paper billing = £38.25 a month) for just the 20mb broadband. But it never seemed that quick to me, and recently have been having problems with the modem.

Just phoned up retentions as you suggested. At first the guy said the best deal they could do was £43 for just the 50mb broadband.

I told him about your post (I actually read out your sentence above). And low and behold. I am now signed up for 50mb broadband (with a new router that I actually needed), M TV and a Phoneline for £39 a month (I did the ebilling nonsense at the same time)

Originally he wanted to charge me £50 for activation and installation. But I asked him if he could do it for free, bearing in mind both that I had been a customer for such a long time, and the grief I was having with the 20mb.

So he spoke to sales and got some vouchers that took it down to £5 (which clearly I can live with)

Its all getting installed on friday.

For a £5 one off charge and 75 pence extra a month. I am getting a lot more value for my money.

Thanks for the post. Certainly helped me out :-)

Just looked at my next due bill online:

Code:
Telephone Line Rental 22 September - 21 October £11.00
Phone & B'Band XL & XXL Discount	22 September - 21 October £-17.00
XXL 50Mb Broadband 22 September - 21 October £45.00
Total: £39

Is that right or wrong?

I think thats right.

The way the guy explained it to me they add everything up and then knock off the discount.

They seem to have quite a few prices. Its a little confusing.

Yeah. I was about to rage because the press release says "From 1st September Virgin Media will reduce the monthly cost of its 50Mb service for new and existing customers to £28, when taken with a phone line" until I realised that £28+£11 = £39 :o

Just double checked after reading this. And I got the M+ Tv Package, M Phone, 50mb broadband for £39.

So make sure to say about the M+ TV, rather then just M.

The difference is that you get an extra 20 channels. Many of which are worthless.

But Sky 1, 2 and Bravo are in the M+ and not in the M. So, to my mind that covers most of the main channels you would want.

It DOES NOT include HD channels, UNLESS you get a V+ HD Box as well.

If not you will get the rest of the channels, but not the HD ones.

With that thought in mind just added on the V+ HD Box. Which is an extra £49 plus £5 a month.

All in all pretty happy for £44 a Month :-)

Once I cancel my BT line my monthly outgoings will actually drop by £11. So, all in all, will end up saving £5.25 on what I was paying for the 20mb alone.

So it is definitely worth phoning them up and re-negotiating a package, especially if you are on one of the old NTL packages (like me), which really ripped you off..

Rang up and ordered this today, soonest they can come and put it in is Oct 6th  (upgrading from 2mbit in this place)
last friday they rang me to offer me free tv for life as i've been with virgin/ntl for over 7years but the soonest they can come to setup the box is on the october 22rd. :p
