Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Well i filled out the form on the Virgin website to send out a "spotter" to check the area around the property to see where the ducting goes etc etc.

Hopefully they will just contact me by phone/email rather than talking to the property owners themselves. Eek! :D

Damn that is a good price.

Possible to give me a mates rate deal? ;) Buuuudddddy? Be my friend plox. Or get your friend to be my friend, so we can have friends being friends.

Would love a package like that for when i move house.

Wow now that is a good deal. Would move to 50mb no doubt at that price. Any help on getting such a good price? Contact mail in trust:p

Unfortunatley my contact at VM is the wife of an ex colleague who I no longer speak to. I think every employee is allowed 5 friends. How long I last i'm not too sure but if they cut me off the mates rate then i'll just cancel altogether. As everything is in place i'm sure they'll let me stay on the package rather than have nothing at all.

Installed yesterday! :D

I AM SO JEALOUS

The problem i have is i live in the sticks and have no cable in my area, GGGRRRRRR

Have badgered the cable company for ages but they "have to plans" to install it in my area.

Just ordered my 50mbit service :D

Got £150 on Quidco as well :D

Does anyone know which Router and USB Adaptor you get with it? I am getting the Netgear ones (as discussed in another thread), so might as well sell them. Actually, can I sell them or are they the property of VM?

/Edit:
Wireless router for XXL: Wireless router and adaptor are included your package. Equipment remains property of Virgin Media

:(

I just upgraded to 50MB from 20MB today,

They are going to take a week and a half to send out and engineer to install the new moden and router. There will be a one of charge of £20.

I was a bit disappointed that they charge £20, Then the guy said it used to be £50 before.

Well been on the 50mb service for just over 3 months now and has been pretty plain sailing in this part of Manchester. I think we have had one service issue for 20 mins one night and that's it. We consistently hit over the 50mb mark through Giga News Euro servers

Virgin offer 50Meg to the people next door both ways from here (work) but not here, I emailed them and they promised to call back but never did :( As fr my home, no chance of 50meg there :p

Argh! Why do VM give date options if they can't even keep both my first and second choice!

You need to complain. VM arranged to install my services on Saturday about a week after my order date - suffice to say, they didn't turn up.

I called them and spoke to a really unhelpful (the vast majority of VM's call centre staff could be described as such) gentleman who told me the next date was 3 weeks away and that if I wanted an earlier date I would have to keep calling to check for cancellations - the bloody cheek . So I called the cancellation line who advised the same thing... Customer Service is an alien concept to them it would seem.

As a last resort I sent in an email complaint via the website and the next day had a call from a extremely helpful lady. She apologised for the inconvenience, spoke to the head of the team in my area and I had a booking for the next day and would be the first call on the round - the guy was even 20 minutes early for the appointment. :)

I've fairly sure there is a £10 or something similar payment you can claim from VM is they miss a booked appointment. 2 missed = £20.
Not much, but if more people claimed it they'd think less about missing.

Virgin media announce 100mb
http://pressoffice.virginmedia.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=205406&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1395257&highlight=

What are the odds that only the 100mb gets the 10mb upload (10 mb upload promised to 50 mb customers) oh and I was told by the customer services when I got 50mb that 50 mb would be upgraded to 100mb for free (another lie).

Good chance it will be 50mb stays same upload and they introduce an stm 100mb no stm and 10mb upload.
Still at least the heavy leechers will all move to 100mb
