Virgin media announce 100mb

What are the odds that only the 100mb gets the 10mb upload (10 mb upload promised to 50 mb customers) oh and I was told by the customer services when I got 50mb that 50 mb would be upgraded to 100mb for free (another lie).

Good chance it will be 50mb stays same upload and they introduce an stm 100mb no stm and 10mb upload.
Still at least the heavy leechers will all move to 100mb

50 -> 100Mb upgrades could be free as they are on the same network and use the same hardware and needs just a config change. This was 1 reason why the 20 -> 50Mb upgrade wasn't free as it needed to be moved onto the DOCSIS3 network and a new modem supplied.

I've just had mine installed today. They've gave me a D-Link DIR-615, cute little device!

Bloke was really nice, knew what he was doing!

you might want to talk to them first about it.

ive been having some massive problems with my 50mb line since it was installed, the first installed a new modem, did nothing :-(

got on the the virgin newsgroups and some of their tech guys looked in to my line etc and came back telling me that there is a high utilization rate on my UBR and its a nationwide thing to a lot of users.

basically it looks like virgin have over sold and did not expect it to take off as well as it has done. because of this peak times are really taking their toll lol.

2am is like lightning fast, but 7pm is unbearable lol.

just a thought ;-)

Has anyone successfully managed to get them to increase their catchment area for cable?

The new build I have bought is not covered in the post-code check, but literally 1 steet up running parallel can have 20MB no problems.

I have emailed them all the details of the new build development and that just 1 road up can have cable, but I'm doubtful if it will amount to anything.

VM posted on some forums (not sure if it was mentioned on here) asking for areas they would like cover (at a guess bordering existing areas).

I don't understand why they don't lay cables on new housing estates, when the other services are going in. Cheaper than doing it a few years later and having to dig up everywhere again?

ppl on 20mb are getting a free 50mb upgrade I heard dunno if its true like.

Not going to happen if 50mb aren't upgraded to 100 some people may have only just signed up to 50mb.

My guess is still

10mb same price
20mb same price
50mb same price
100mb new top tier with 10mb upload about £10 more per month than 50mb

How long does 50mb take to set up?

I'm moving in to a new rental house soon so just wondering how long I would be without a connection for.

Cheers.

Unlikely as moving from 20mb to 50mb involves VM supplying a new modem and an engineer visit.

Where did you hear that?
