I know certantly a few years ago you had to, but seen as other companys do internet on their own, so i cant see why Virgin wouldnt to be honest.
I might be interested if that's the case.
service is amazing thus far. as i type this utorrent is downloading at 5.6 MB/s and internet browsing is still lighting quick!
What kind of speeds to you reckon I can expect? I'm on a package at the moment which is supposedly up to 24mbit/sec but I usually get from 8-10mbit/sec from it due to my distance from the exchange. Would I get a decent speed from Virgin?
what settings do you use in utorrent?
The most I can get on mine is 5.98MB/sec when I should theoretically be getting 6.4MB/sec, but cba with complaining
It's been **** in Telford recently
I am so tempted to get this service. So do they throttle the lines in the slightest? I mean, is there a download cap or something and then you get punched down to a slower speed? Or is it just the usual acceptable use system?
Pretty much.http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.htmlLower products (20Mbps, 10Mbps) have traffic management/throttling, called STM, yes. The 50 meg product however has no limits of the kind. We're regularly munching through 500GB to 1TB a month with no issues, and get 50 megs 24/7.
The guy was amazed how much we downloaded. He said 873GB in the last something, guessing its year... then 120GB in the last month. Was like no idea what you could be downloading, never seen that.
I started to laugh lol -
Haha he was gutted, said most people dl 10-20gb p/mAre you sure? I often download that per DAY.
