Complete tosh!

Use a high quality coax by all means but the one virgin supply is by no means high quality.

Not actually complete tosh, look up the effects of "noise" on an HFC network, using garbage cable and connecting "alternative" devices to the network can cause network issues.

Boom! :)

Move finally going ahead and seems the 100MB line I had will become 150MB so will find out Friday how it works out.

Must admit, the only time the line ever gets maxed is when a rebuild is in order and I need to download the entirety of Steam again.

I've just completed the online upgrade process to go from 100Mb to 150Mb. How long will it take for me to be on the new speed? Will it only kick in once I receive the new superhub?

I finally upgraded my ancient modem/netgear router to superhub2 today, was initially disapointed to still be getting 85mbit then someone suggested i might only have 100mb ethernet cable...swapped that and it jumped to 145mbit. I had no idea the little Ethernet cables came in speeds but the PC does report that the port has gone from 100mb to 1gb.

That's what my 250GB was the other day :)

Sorry but I haven't read all the posts here.....but If I connect a "Better" Cable from the box on the wall to my Superhub I am going to get a better , smoother connection ?...cos to be honest since VM put us up to 200Mbps and although I'm getting the speed from Downloads and so on......the Internet in general feels a little less smooth and snappy

No. If you're getting 200 mbit on downloads, a cat 5e or better cable won't make a difference. If you look down the side of the cable, you're probably already using cat 5e or better, as that's what VM pack with their Superhubs and what is giving you that speed.

Well on the Cable that comes from the Superhub( The stiff white Cable ) to the box on the wall....there is no text , nor is there any text on the cat cable from the suberhub to my router :)

My superhub modem came with no cable, as an upgrade i expect they wanted me to use the old cable...which was the one only capable of 100mb, I just happened to have a 1gb capable cable from a router i used to use.

Well...Bye Bye Virgin

Been with them since Cabletel -> NTL -> Virgin, started of with 64K cable modem and now I'm off to SKY.

I've spent the last few weeks on the phone to retentions but the cheapest deal they'll do me for XL TV, standard Phone & 50Mb broadband is £58. That's as low as they'd go even after I cancelled my contract & told them I'm moving to Sky for £44.60 :(

Does any-one here know if the superhub 2 or whatever their latest hub is called supports a persistent static ARP route, simply speaking it doesn't clear the ARP table after 10-15 mins as I' wanting to use Wake-on-Lan and the hub1 doesn't support it.

Many thanks
