Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Does any-one here know if the superhub 2 or whatever their latest hub is called supports a persistent static ARP route, simply speaking it doesn't clear the ARP table after 10-15 mins as I' wanting to use Wake-on-Lan and the hub1 doesn't support it.

Many thanks

SH2/ac doesn't,

i suggest getting a asus router i know they support it as i got a Asus RT-AC87U

Thanks for the answer on that.

The Asus RT-AC87U is seriously expensive, is it that good? Can it support 2.4 wifi and 5ghz at the same time to different hardware?
Is there a cheaper alternative which supports it?

New contract offered to me last week.

XL TV with BT Sport
Phone talk weekends,
TiVo in the living room, HD box in the bedroom,
152Mb broadband all for £49 per month. I'm happy with that.

i have the Asus RT-AC87U and it is very good. yes it support 2.4 wifi and 5ghz at the same time, plus a lot more features.

you can get a cheaper router that support 2.4 wifi and 5ghz at the same time but I'm sure it won't have as many features + wifi coverage as the Asus RT-AC87U

Oh that would come in very handy, what other features does it have (looked at the specs not that they mean much to me), I'm nearly sold I haven't bought a super duper router in the past always just used ISP provided ones, the super hub is pretty gash tbh, streaming can be a nightmare.

Id like to know how people manage these cheap deals.
Ive been with virgin for over 15+ years and im on
XL tv
talk unlimited
Tivo
200mb broadband

and im paying £75 per month.

I called retentions and said i was thinking of leaving but they couldnt knock me anything off.
I could get it down to £56 per month if i paid the telephone line rental in one lump sum for the year.

Reveived my confirmation letter today from VM

150Mb line
BigBang TV package
telephone line
Tivo 500Gb box
New AC2 router

Installation 30 October

£32.79 pm on a 12 month contract subject to a price increase (2016). Spoke to retentions and told them i was going to pay upfront for the 12 months and I did not like the sound of the price increase due to me paying up front. I was told if i get a price increase to call back retensions who will apply a deal.

Could not shake off the £49.99 installation charge though, now matter how hard I tried. I was told the charge would be applicable as I had never had their phone line before.

Overall went from 100Mb line negotiated down to £26.00 (No TV or phone) from £32.00. TV package including telephone line including 150Mb set at £32.79

I did ask retensions if I would still get the line upgrade from 150Mb to 200Mb, but she was unsure and did say that was a good question. I will keep my eye on this (fingers crossed) as according to VM line upgrades my existing 100Mb line was due to be upgraded to 150Mb from December 2015 - February 2016

Overall still happly with the deal. If I do get a price increase next year I will contact retensions to discuss a better deal in line with what I have paid for (12 months) in advance

Whenever my contract is up I look at the latest web offer and just tell them I'm not happy with the current package and want to change to this one. That's just calling the normal number not retentions with threats to cancel.

Well after arranging a Sky install I had a call from Virgin offering to drop the price of my package from £58 to £34.

Now why couldn't they just do that in the first place FFS !!!

Ps. Sky cancelled....we'll see what happens in 12 months ;)

Im currently on about 15Mb Sky. Its getting a little slow now ie. 4k youtube and games ever increasing in size.

Looking at getting the 200Mb line on it own for £42 a month. How good is it and likely am I to get anywhere near that speed? Im about 0.75 mile from the closest exchange. Are any of you getting the 25mb/s download speed or close too?

Thanks,
Sean
