Virgin Media Discussion Thread

So, I think I might be getting my d-link 615 replaced, does it matter I changed the firmware? If so, can anyone upload me a copy of the original firmware so I can put it back on!

Goto the D-Link UK FTP site and virgins firmware is on there. ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/ make sure you know what you are doing.

Thanks for that, just seen it though so was a bit to late. He wouldn't have known anything if it wasn't for the amber light. Anyway, told him it wasn't me that did it.

Got £35 for my troubles and free relocation of my cables.

Still looking for 50mb, anyone here upgrade from a lower end package to 50mb deal? If so how much extra was it?

I rang up again and they keep quoting me like £35 extra ontop of the £30 I already pay for 10mb, m tv and xl telephone (dont use TV but there is no smaller package!)

Went from 20Mb + phone to 50Mb + phone.
Costs me £7 more.

How much do you pay per month?

I've told them leave the TV as I've got Sky HD but they don't remove any price so forced to have the Medium Package... Just want 50MB and Unltd. Phone.

Anyone know the best person, way to contact them about this? They're really blunt on the phone and state thats the price and thats that... I know people manage to get fluctuations from their website price vs. the price they pay per month.

Help please want to be in the 50mb club lol

The more you have the bigger your discount gets :p

So do what we do and spend £93 a month + landline call cost....

No. Don't :p

Its not a case of that, I just want to go from 10mb to 50mb. They want £35 extra for that.

I can sign up online for £45 max inc line rental as a new customer, yet they want to charge me (customer since telewest) about £65 so £20 more than a new customer would yet, and I know what Virgin are like they state a price but a lot of people haggle and get lower prices that they're officially posted on their site.

So even with zero haggling if I could become a new customer, I'd get it £20 cheaper. Why can't they at least offer it to the new customer price of £45 meaning an extra £15 a month max?

me and my gf have went from the large tv package offer they had done to the M tv package which is free. im not seeing how you have to pay £35 ontop of the £12.50 for the 20mb as well as the standard phoneline price...
according to figures if you want just basic phoneline and 50mbp your talking £28.99 + £11.99 (ignoring any offers etc) so thats £41 roughly. Gangster if you inc the unlimited calls package that makes it £48 a month at most. i dont see how you're expected to pay more. have you phoned up customer sales and spoke to someone ?

Phoned VM about 2 months ago to get the 50mb, advised me it was a £60 installation fee, so i said no, ill stay with 20mb (been on this since it was available, and always on their top teir since back in the free dial up days.

called them today, as im fed up of the speed cap as im a heavy user around their peak times, gave them a whole speel about being a dedicated customer and i want the install for free, guy then goes "installion of 50Mb is free this month anyway, all you have to pay is the £20 upgrade fee and your good to go"

was happy with this, but my engineer callout date is the 9th of november, which is pretty long away.

Ill phone each few days to see if i can get a cancellation to get it sooner.

Guys the missus has Virgin and I was going to pay the extra to get her to 50MB as I am a heavy user (well I think so) and staying at hers a fair bit.

Just how bad is the fair usage/trafficking on 50MB?
