Apropos July- apparently. But did anyone else get an odd email. I'm only on 50mb but got this email.
Good news - we're giving you even faster broadband, for less.

You're already getting the UK's fastest widely available broadband, and starting this summer we'll be starting the roll-out to boost your speeds from up to 100Mb to up to 120Mb. We'll also be lowering the price of your broadband package in April to match the price of our 50Mb Broadband XXL packages.

These are nice extras we do to make you smile. We call them Virgin Media tickles, and we only give them to people we know and like - our customers.

Our ongoing commitment to offering the UK's fastest broadband.

Virgin Media offers the fastest broadband speeds in the UK*, as proven by Ofcom for three years in a row. And we're committed to keeping it this way. Which is why we're upgrading our award winning fibre optic network over the next 18 months.

As part of this upgrade, you may have seen we'll be doubling many of our customers' broadband speeds. But, because you already get our fastest broadband, we're upgrading you to up to 120Mb and giving you a discount instead.

So whether you love streaming HD movies, ruling the gaming world or downloading tunes in super quick time - you'll soon be able to do it even faster and for less.

Edit - seems. Anew people have got this in mistake.

So what do we get as 50mb customers? If 100mb is falling in price to 50mb, what are we getting?

Oh and what's up with virgin tonight 1.5mb I don't think I've ever got less than 20mb and that's very rare.

Any ideas what the upload speed will be on the 120mb connection?

I have 5mb upload on a 50mb connection, 10mb would be great, 15mb would be worth the extra money.

Are they even increasing the upload speeds as part of this upgrade? After rolling out the upload upgrade programe which still hasn't finished I'd be suprised if the upload speeds go up much, if at all.

@Speed, you should check your uploads now. i'm on aztec west and mine have been done today even though it's not due until april.

Ours is scheduled for april-july.....hopefully they will finally sort out the overutlisation issues and upgrade the chassis from QAM64 to QAM256 which they have been promising to do since June last year......by Oct last year the first time and now Feb this year is the latest date.....I did have a QAM256 chassis for about 14 hours in Oct before they did something and now I have 5 (instead of 4) QAM64 downstream channels..which is slightly better, but rarely gets me near the 100mb.

In other news the email I received also states that from April my 100mb (120mb) line cost will be reduced to the current 50mb prices...:)

We where due the upload speed bump in April but according to this they are doing the upgrade speeds as well in march to April. So that's nice as we are one of the last to get the upgrade bump so good to see them doing it all in one. Just means need to get a crappy superhub ugg.

VM work on a 10:1 speed scale now, so when they double the download speeds the upload speeds will double as well. Its already been confirmed.
