Vista Beta 2 Goes Public Today

The links have stopped working, and silly me selected x86 last night, *If i resume download it works, but i want 64bit*

:( Any help?

Poeple. Forgot to tell everyone that we are doing a bit of work on the server at 9pm tonight so it won't be availiable for 1 hour or so.

You can resume your ftp downloads once ive done my bits. :).

I have Vista installed and everything seems to be running ok, but now when I go to restart it automatically boots into XP, what I would like is to be given the option to be into either, is there a way I can do this?

right click on my computer,

left click on properties

click on advanced tab,

then settings in the start up and recovery section.

in there, there is a drop down menu select what you would like to boot first.

this is from the xp boot btw lol

not sure if its there in vista ;)

all good so far, been playing with it with remote desktop, haven't actually sat in front of it yet for a play! Can't find any creative drivers though, i have an audigy LS and tried the drivers on their site but no joy.

i will be downloading shortley

question do i need to do anything special to do a dual install as i have never done 1 before

then how do i set it up for dual boot then any links or info is appreciteed thx guys

installing dual boot could not be easier. i didn't even bother burning the iso to dvd. just mount the image (using daemon tools) within your existing xp setup and run setup from there. when prompted choose an advanced install and select a new partition to install on. (i had already created and formatted a partition prior to running vista setup). follow the prompts on screen. it really is that simple. when your pc starts, you will get a menu with a choice of windows versions you want to boot. :)

edit: whilst on the subject of mounting isos, is there anything like daemon tools that works within vista? something that works with the current beta of course. there's plenty of references on the web to older stuff that works.... :p

Managed to get it working, it seems really good, looking forward to the final, it picked up all my drivers automatically and everything seems to be working pretty well, only problems I noticed was UAP (so annoying it was the first thing I turned off), the way it seems to be running slowly, and have long pauses and for some reason using "old" applications, like VLC cause Aero to stop and all the nice effects to turn off until the application closes :(

If you start it now, it will be done by midnight. ;)

I also want to know how to set up a dual boot. :)

I moved to Eclipse's Evolution.. so I have a 20GB cap now that's counted 5-12.

I'm adding all the drivers URLs to the download list too :D

That's not a bad idea for a cap.

I am with Virgin who have a 20GB guided allowence, I then used 10GB before I had lunch. :p (I feel guilty about it though.)

well my official download broke down at 99.9% percent with some rubbish about incorrect file size or something. grrrrrrrrrrrr (using official dl manager from IE7)

...and now ive noticed that the link to the download using the official download manager is showing the "high level of demand" message.

Thanks, I've tried that but it only displays Windows XP. Could it be because I have XP on the 74GB Raptor and Vista on a 50 GB partition on my 120GB SATA drive? iirc the raptor is set as master and the 120gb is set as slave.

Latest version of Daemon Tools and Alcohol just won't install, I have however got Daemon Tools 3.11 to install it just doesnt seem to want to mount the mini-image I have ( says file not accessible ) so may need to experiment a bit more.

edit on that, tried the original Vista ISO I downloaded and still on the XP partition and it mounts fine from within Vista using DT 3.11. result ;)

Has anyone got a new link for the 32bit version?

The 64bit has to many problems when it comes to installing apps.
