Vodafone broadband any good?

I don't suppose you are on your own. I think however a lot of people use their own router with their Vodafone connection. Like all "provided by the ISP" routers, the Vodafone one "does the job" if the job you require is rather basic. I do agree that attaching a USB drive is all very basic, however as you've said, it works if you format the USB key how they want it.

So Vodafone are going to be re-selling the Cityfibre up to 1Gbps FTTP connections that are getting fitted to all the properties in my area by the end of the year, my current Plusnet contract expires at the end of May so I'm thinking about jumping over to Vodafone in preparation for an easier transition to getting a FTTP connection later in the year.

Reviews seem like a mixed bag but I'll give it a shot, also comes in £10/month cheaper than what I'm paying for a comparable service.
Current Plusnet speeds comming in at 58mpbs and Vodafone are guaranteeing a minimum of 55mbps so I cant see any reason why I should notice too much of a difference...

I just moved from Plusnet FTTC to Vodafone FTTC on 80/20, was a bit apprehensive but so far I have noticed no peak time congestion getting the full 80/20 24 by 7. Vodafone appear to have better routing from Scotland at least as the pings are down around 5ms compared to Plusnet. The only time I needed to contact them was to get my login details for my own router, got through on online chat in a minute and got the details quickly. For £24 a month I can't complain.

Vodafone are starting to test my patience. Installation/activation took months because of their **** up. Our speed became unusable recently, complained and they suggested changing channels. The same problem has returned, well below our guaranteed speed.

Surely changing channels wouldn't effect your guaranteed speed anyway because it's the speed getting to your property and not speeds received by the devices

Makes sense but I don't really know much about this stuff. Could barely stream YouTube last night, PUBG was unplayable and this was just me using the internet.

It's ok i've tried loads of stuff to try and resolve my crappy Vodafone internet with little success. Even hard wiring a lot of devices :(

Rang the other day to get a cancellation figure which is about £200 but would be worth it to just get reliable internet speeds. We're moving house next month so will see if we get the same issues and if we do then i'll be jumping ship. Probably back to BT

My problem is that i do seem to get the minimum speeds to the router, but even when i was hard wired to the Vodafone router i'd get really slow performance, with streams/Youtube not loading.

The router is apparently receiving 68mbs (on both the Vodafone router and a HG612 modem), but on the actual devices i get much less than that, even over ethernet.

As far as they can see my router hits the number so they just end up blaming me and i spend hours on the phone to them going round in circles to the point i'd rather spend £200 and be shut of them.

@Marvt74 what router are you using with the HG612? Have you connected a laptop/pc direct by ethernet cable to the router and ran a speed test? If you download a game from Steam/Origin what rate do you get?
