Want an extra 5GB storage with Dropbox?

Does it have to be uploaded via the autoplay feature? If so, I'll have to make a few smaller ones cos I don't have any removable storage that size lol

Correct, is has to be done via the autoplay feature. However, you can simply change the numbers at the end of the command, I'm pretty certain that's how large the .jpg you want to create is, in bytes. So, say you have 315Mb of free space, google '315 megabytes in bytes'
And it tells you:
315 megabytes = 330 301 440 bytes

Or right click on it in Computer, and go 'properties'. Should tell you the free space in bytes there. I'd advise not completely filling it though, leave a bit of free space.

In Win 7 , go to the computer managment console, right click on storage, create a 5~GB VHD, format and attach, create the JPEG as above on that drive, right click the drive in "My Computer", select Autoplay, profit ?

Just had a message to say my dropbox is full?

Where can I check how much space I have now? Don't think this worked :(

Just took 30min vid on my iPhone and plugged that in to upload..

Might try deleting it from my dropbox account

EDIT: seen this 87.6% used (6.3GB of 7.25GB)

Awesome stuff - I've got a 2gb card so I'll make a few 1.5gb files and get those on the go :)

I tried with a 3gb file (only got 3.4gb available in there at the minute) but naturally it didn't work lol

cheers

OK well looks like I need to add more content and the deleting files after forced it to tell me what space I have..

7.25gb is a nice lump to have :)

Thanks for that tip above! :D

Had started to move photos over (about 3GB), but just stopped it later on as my upload is crap :( and was slowing down my browsing.

Went from 2.5GB to 3.5GB

So I put a 2.6GB film on my USB, done that autoplay dropbox thing and once a few MB had been uploaded, I just went into the camera upload folder and deleted it whilst still uploading and my space then went from 3.5 to 6GB :D, deleted that film of my USB and put another 2.6GB film on and rinse and repeat, now got 7.5GB all within a few minutes! :D

Still not got my last 500MB, even though I've uploaded over 6GB. :( I read that there's a bug in their code and that I will get it, so I'll wait and see...

Wish I'd tried some of the tricks people have posted since I wasted so much time doing it! :p

I assume you had more than normal to start with?

How much extra have you got from this?

only 5 GB :D

Did you do a clean install of dropbox or just updated to the beta version?

I found some problems with just updating the files. So just used another computer.

Using a flash stick i created folder DCIM and inside that another folder called camera. Then used the command someone above posted to make a 3gb file. Uploaded that. Then did it again with slightly different values.

Haha sweet... though after a massive faff trying to get the registry to allow autoplay of virtual hard drives, created a new dropbox account

Now up to 7gb :D

did as above, created photo ~3.5 gigs, autoplayed my virtual drive, waited for it to find the photo then when it was sycing after the importing had done just deleted the photo..

twice over and about to try for a third time, all with differing photo names and sizes around 3.5gigs in different dcim folder everytime! :D

I just updated to the beta. Hmm, maybe I'll try abusing the fast connection at work tomorrow and see what happens. :)

Have you been creating fake accounts and referring yourself?!

Ooohh, why didn't I think of that!? lol

I'm up to 8.4GB now :)

Cheers for the link OP :D

I've still got my 50GB box.com account too that I've never used yet lol
