Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

Just finished the campaign.
Good game... a bit samey compared to other Ubi titles, but a somewhat different slant on things. Story was shorter than I expected, TBH. I can see a sequel coming out before long, too.

Mine froze my PC a few times when quitting the game to the point where it actually reset itself. It seems that running it in borderless fixed crashing issues for me.

Oooh ^ good tip. Thanks!

I wonder if it takes a performance hit from running windowed? I do have a number of games that run like butter fullscreen but stutter once windowed... and my rig isn't exactly dated

Agreed, 50-70 FPS here maxed out on temp SSMA @ 1080p. Game looks & runs beautiful, get mild stutter every now & then when driving but not enough to throw me off or make me crash. Can't work out whether the game is actually unplayable for some or just being a bunch of moaners

Unplayable :(

Biggest issue is the terrible stutter whilst driving.

Looks like the Division is being downgraded for PC as well now if true. Going by Watchdogs and Assassins creed 4 It's very likely.

According to this developer, there is ” definitely a lot of push coming from publishers to not make the experience so different on consoles as to alienate people in to that next generation isn’t as powerful as PC.”

In reference to The Division, the anonymous source went on to explain how the team is already downgrading the game’s graphics: “Right now we already took out quite a lot of screen space reflections from the game and are working on asset management as best as we can given the consoles unified memory.”

Bit of a downer for PC gaming if true.

So much for the next gen consoles were going to improve game development and drive things forward.

Seems worse than before. They are gimping the performance and as a result we are left with crap that doesn’t run properly.

This is just greed really.

Next gen my backside!

Xbox One, PS4 are just last gen with tyre paint on! :p

Not got the terrible stutter others have so the game is playable for me still some there but its not to bad.

Ubisoft have just dropped the ball even more by not releasing a patch sooner that actually fixes these problems whilst advertising a season pass! Theey need to pull their finger out!

memory made the biggest difference for me, going from 4gb to 8gb fixed stutter.

GPU memory or system memory? I already have 8Gb of system ram.

It seems to have made a massive difference changing 'Max buffered frames' from 3 to 1.

Way less stutter. Smooth compared to what it was like before.

It would probably be helpful for those with and without stuttering issues to list their settings.

We've been playing around with settings at a friends house and after installing the WorseMod, with every setting at maximum, it looked incredible. However, as soon as you step outside the PC couldn't handle it. The best graphics we managed without stuttering (including riding a superbike at top speed) were using the following settings:

VGA: NVidia GTX 580
RAM: 16 Gig
Disk: SSD
Patches: 0
Mods: WorseMod 0.7

-=DISPLAY=-
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Refresh Rate: 60
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Window Mode: Fullscreen
VSync: Off
GPU Max Buffered Frames: 1
Textures: High
Anti-Aliasing: Temporal SMAA
Widescreen Letterbox: Off

-=GRAPHICS QUALITY=-
Overall Quality: Custom
Level of Detail: Ultra
Shadows: Low
Reflections: Ultra
Ambient Occlusion: Off
Motion Blur: On
Depth of Field: Off
Water: Ultra
Shader: Medium

The biggest thing for me that seemed to stop stuttering was making a shortcut for the game and adding -disablepagefilecheck at the end of the link (outside of quotes).

Running on a 3770k and a 7970, both at stock, also running on SSD.

Looks good, we can now pick the effects we want to enable also :)

With same settings as above, lows of 31fps when driving at max speed on some parts of the city, average around 45fps, highs of 90

but with crossfire i still hit lows of around 25fps, average 35fps Ubisoft need to sort the memory & crossfire problem
Seems a shame to have a card just gathering dust when playing WD

All the new Mod has done has introduced new bugs. I think i'm just going to play it vanilla with some SweetFX. All the promise that the mod would be perfect and it's far from it. I appreciate what the guys are doing but it's hardly changing anything and messing up even more with the game.

Picked this up earlier for £16. Running gtx 780 ghz edition Sli. Running ultra with e3 mod. Lows of 30 frames and highs of 90's. Game looks beautiful but has zero optimization. Turning off most things makes no difference to my frame rate. 3gb vram usage from the moment the game starts.
