Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

Im really enjoying this game, there seems to be/have been so much hate for this game but I think its really good. IMO is blows GTA 4's 'city' out the water. Speaking of water, the sea effects are delicious on ultra. I can get it running pretty damn smooth with everything on max apart from textures as I only have 2gb vram and AA on MSAA x4.

The first mission is cool and after about an hour or so in, it does feel very Splinter Cell Black List which is a good thing. Think Im going to be glued to this for a while, looking forward to some mods cropping up in the community.

One gripe though: For heavens sake, is it really that hard to map every key on the keyboard?!?! Its 2014 Ubisoft. Maybe I want the Page Down key to do something but nooooooooooooo, key not recognised. Some of us like to play with the arrow keys you know, were not all WASD! Grrrrr, patch please!

Are you running the 14.6 drivers? I was previously using the 14.4 drivers (and it launched) but decided to install the 14.6 drivers for the performance increase.

I may have to revert back and see if that solves it.

Was running 14.4 originally, but switched to 14.6 while trying to figure out what was happening. In the process of burning my Win7 ISO now to format the entire PC. Bored of trying to fix this and it's not limited to just this game. It's not all games though, which is strange. Seems to be .NET or C+ Redist related but I've ran the AIO-Runtimes and it's done nothing.

While iv managed to fix the crossfire 14.6 issue..it now works... on 14.6 ill get crashes to desktop lol. I love pc gaming :D
To fix the crossfire negative scaling issue it seems that Temporal SMAA was the issue.. if I switched it to normal SMAA it worked great.. With supersampling enabled my fps went from 30-50 in crossfire once I switched it in game to SMAA.. if I put it back to temporal SMAA it went all the way back down to 12fps in crossfire.

It annoys me slightly that police cars don't go after other people, fire engines don't turn up to put out fires, and Ambulances don't turn up to revive people. Was always little details like that which made things feel a little more alive

Both of those things happen, but not very often. Would actually be nice to see both things happening outside of the player causing them, IE driving by and there is an actual fire and a fire crew fighting it. It's only ever, run people over, wait ages, ambulance turns up.

The thing that is getting to me over and over, is the utter lack of humour. I think the best thing that highlights it is these intrusion things where you spy on peoples lives or the hacking servers thing when you are inside one of the ctos things to unlock an area. They have all been completely dull, with one or two semi adult themed ones but, it all feels soooo sterile. The actual interactions between the character and anyone else are all meh. Doesn't matter how dark something is, people still make jokes. This entire system of every person walking around having a name and a small backstory, yet they exceptionally rarely say something interesting.

Would prefer to hack into 50 calls through the entire game of which half are hilarious or brilliantly acted or something, than thousands of calls that are all completely useless. Outside of any free guns/cars from progression I can't be bothered doing any more because they aren't interesting enough to be worth it. Same with hacking random people to hear their conversations.... completely not worth the time and effort waiting for something interesting to happen.

Less hacking and make it more fun and difficult, less characters but make them more interesting, less "intrusions", and gangs, and crimes and make them much better scripted/set up. It's all very lifeless and meh.

It's a fairly good city, looks good enough, could do with more places you can go inside, but they've filled it up with lifeless and uninteresting characters.

Not sounding like my type of game going on the above. What we need is more of this

Is anyone else finding the driving physics a little dodgy. The faster cars seem to be all over the place and are really twitchy. I hit a bin slowly in an alleyway and the car just flew straight up in the air. Slower cars seem to be ok. I know this game really isn't about the driving but it does spoil it somewhat.

The game plays beautifully for me though on 2xGTX660 Sli and a 3770k apart from motion blur it was a little glitchy but I hate motion blur anyway so turned it off.

im amazed people say this game is fugly...the game is pure artwork. The lighting effects all over the city at night blow me away. Everywhere I go at night whether it be lit up Multi story Car Parks, to underneath tramlines with the lights and gurders, it is constantly amazing me. Some times day looks washed out, but Ultra detail levels and night = fap fap and frames and crossfire sorted, I'm tempted to not bother working tomorrow. lol

Hows crossfire for you tony? I managed to get it working by flicking temporal SMAA down to just SMAA but it still feels kind of meh lol.

Even though iv got more fps in crossfire it feels laggier and slower and not very smooth so I just went back to one card. Lower fps but feels smoother.

Someone elsewhere said that using FRAPS to see their fps, actually halved their framerate.

1080p, Ultra, 4x MSAA and it's running great on my PC.

i7 4770k @ 4.5Ghz
8GB Ram
AMD 290x using Beta 14.6
Win 8.1

Have you tried playing it without a fps counter and just seeing if it's alright?

MSI Afterburner won't effect the framerate so you can use that to monitor FPS instead of FRAPS.

Guess this is another game which I wait until it hits the bargain bin before purchasing (to the sound of it won't be long)... Feel sorry for the people who paid out there nose for it... Witcher 3 can't come quick enough :-)...
