Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

How the hell do you save in this game? is it by resting, none of my missions seem to autosave. I keep going back to the same bit.

e: does it default to loading at the safe house, if so i may just be a twonk.

had it happen a couple of times, put it down to uplay not syncing correctly when shutting the game down

yeah. i just get this when i load the game..

I've tried amd 14.4 driver and 14.6 driver but both do the same.
 
Have you looked around on the Steam forums to see if anyone else has the problem?

I wonder what it is, anyone else on here had anything similar? You could always contract Steam about a refund seeing as basically you can not use the product.

It's overrated anyway Gareth :p.
 
i tried disabling a gpu in device manager then start the game and that works but amd CCC doesn't work doing that and the res goes to 1280x1024 and can't be changed due to disabling a gpu in device manager
 
Hmm. Card's not over heating and running fine on everything else?

I don't really have a clue, I wish I could be more helpful. Maybe it's just waiting for a new driver?
 
I have really enjoyed the game for the last few hours, but how much longer can they drag out this ****ing kidnapping!...the story would be 100% improved without it. It is so unnecessary tbh, and fails miserably in trying to create some kind of personality for Aiden.

not over heating, it keeps under 70c under load. all other games run fine.

When starting the game - the game crashes to desktop with an error code.

I had that problem, well it was a different error but crashing at the same screen. I tried everything with no joy. Eventually deleted the config file (my documents/my games/watch dogs) and it sorted it out for me. Give it a bash mate.
 
Just got this game yesterday, really enjoying it so far - so much content across the city and lots of stuff to do, including just larking around and having massive gun battles with gangs and the police :D

Graphics are excellent in places but lacking in others, looks really good at night time during a thunderstorm; comes at a price however as it is very taxing, it's mostly smooth for me with everything maxed at 1440p apart from textures (set to high, if I have them set to ultra then performance tanks) and AA (set to SMAA, MSAA is too taxing and TSMAA causes weird graphical bugs).
 
SweetFX in WD

Been playing around with SweetFX and WD and the difference is quite astonishing. Considering it just 'filters' the image, to me the game looks grittier and more realistic.

It seems there is a popular SweetFX preset made by piterrrxd called the Realistic Preset that is doing the rounds but some people are having problems using SweetFX on 64bit OS's, in particular Windows 8.1

I found a great tutorial video on youtube about how to install it using the SweetFX feature of RadeonPro. (It works with AMD and Nvidia GPU's) Ive been playing it on my GTX670's.

The youtuber JeZ tK has uploaded his SweetFX folder (not just the preset file) to link it into RadeonPro and his video explains how to set it all up. This folder contains the SweetFX made by piterrrxd. The links are in his video discription.

I have also linked to piterrrxd's SweetFX preset page but remember this is only the preset file and wont work with the method that JeZ tK describes in his video.

I recommend this to anyone that wants to try and alter the look of WD and make it look more realistic. I think it mainly alters contrast, de-saturates the colours and makes the game lighting less yellow and more white. Give it a go and see what you think, the performance hit is very minimal maybe none at all.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, if you use this SweetFX preset, turn the ingame brightness right up to 90 or 95 otherwise the screen will be super dark.
