Wayne Rooney: Has he lived up to the hype

Its his weight and his craving for calories. When he found out he couldn't eat them he found a bird who could.

You don't see ronaldo knocking about with size 14 chubbers. Its just not part of his ethos.

Rooney is naturally talented, but is a scally who couldn't say no to a curry or 6 pack of special brew.

Isn't Rooneys wife fairly thin? Pretty harsh thing to say about him or his wife regardless and comparing it to Ronaldo's 'ethos' as if you know him at all :D

Wonder what garbage you'd come out with if Rooney had a surrogate child.

How apt that you seem to be the only other person on here that agrees with him, is it because you both talk **** I ask myself.

We were discussing who was better for the team iirc, and I still think that Rooney did more for the team than Ronaldo ever did, you do remember the strops and the throwing his arms in the air and not tracking back don't you?

Everyone says that ronaldo is a consummate professional. Plus you can kinda tell he keeps in shape.

Rooney got sent to fat camp USA. The difference between their mentality is huge.

The difference in their metabolisms is huge as well, Ronaldo was about 6 stone wringing wet when he joined us and can shed weight easily I imagine.

Then he really should stop looking! For me the one thing that hold Rooney back from beig a real top plaer is his physical attributes to often when he ups the work rate he runs out of puff to be a world class footballer these days you need to be a world class athlete as well.
 
He's not fat he's big boned :D

I don't think his weight has affected him too much over the years, he's always looked a bit beefy. Then again i have read a few times the last couple of years every time he turns up for pre season he comes back in poor condition, could be just media trash but its been put about.
 
This season he has clearly been affected by his weight/lack of fitness. He was blowing out of his arse every time United played a moderately high paced game, only has a year or two left at the top if he continues to eat
 
It's a tough one. Of course we lost that explosive 18 year old, but you also have to remember his temperament was/is also explosive. SAF and the Old Trafford setup were the perfect place (maybe the only place) that could develop him as an all-round great player and keep him on the straight and narrow at the same time. Of course it's speculation, but I have a feeling that if he had gone anywhere else he would have turned into another Gazza. What we have now instead is a very good all-rounder who can (by-and-large) keep himself out of too much trouble. Maybe that's the best we could have hoped for realistically?
