Weekend Football; 31st -1st - *SPOiLERS*

Well played Liverpool - was, in my opinion, a gripping end to a game that was not the best. Saying that I didn't expect it to be fireworks as each team didn't want to lose so not a lot of chances were going to be taken.

Must say the ref had a crappy game blowing at anything and everything and that red card should never of been shown.

However, saying all that I am mighty glad to see the Pool win in the end :)

There again it was also a sad day if the news is to be believed and this is the end of Robbie Keane in the Pool shirt. I think he was a pawn in a management struggle between Rafa / Parry / the useless owners.

If he got a decent run of games I think Rafa and co would thnk again - however, I don't think that will happen.

Anyway - well done boys, you did Anfield proud once again.

Why can't we put that effort into every game? This is what I can never understand with Liverpool.

Cracking result. Got a bit lucky, but I'm so close to assassinating Kuyt its becoming unbearable seeing him on the pitch all the time.

Well said.
Yes another lucky win for Liverpool.
To be fair its not Kuyts fault but the person who puts him on the pitch.

Why are some so fickle?
You really think after this "convincing" win that we are going to go on and destroy teams in our path and march to the title. Because if this display of football makes you think that then fair play to you. If that is the quality of the two teams chasing Fergy then I know he doesnt have much to worry about.
This "stunning" victory as benitez will probably see it, will just further encourage him to be just more cautious and negative in his following game. He may just switch back to playing kuyt up front on his own again, and decide to rest torres and hope "oh well if things don`t go well Ive always got stevie to bail me out of the Sheeet" !

Sounds crazy eh ?

Not good enough result for the Toon today, only saw the 1st half , sneaking out on lunch break.

From the 1st half, Bassong was absolute quality

Collocini is blooming useless

Jonas, sigh, he was played on the wrong wing, Duff did nothing btw, but Jonas needs to pass and move, as opposed to run, lean into players, fall over, and do the "it wasn't me ref" face, which is nearly as bad as Eoghn Quigg's "vote for me Xfactor face" Don't rate him

Carrol worked hard, Shola was bambi on ice again, blooming useless

Enrique had a good game, I really wish he was given a bit more conifedence from JFK

Very suprisingly Kinner has come out an said Insomnia and GIVEN are not done

16.15 Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear says Shay Given's move to Manchester City is still some way from going through due to unresolved 'haggling' between the two clubs.

da_mic: The second half was better performance wise, we were all over them from start to finish - we're just lacking wingers that can put in a decent cross and front-men that convert the chances when they do occur.

Considering the injuries we have I think the team was quite strong today. The tenacity to play football and win loose balls etc was really good to see - I hope it wasn't just because it was the derby and that they play that way for the rest of the season.

I rekon if Owen or Martins had been playing today instead of Ameobi we cold have had at least another goal - maybe even two.

Jonas did very well running at players but his final touch was terrible - so much possession in the second half was wasted because of rubbish crossing. :(

I think the back four did alright, obviously the goal was a terrible mistake but for the most part they did a good job.

We really should have taken the three points in the second half - we just couldn't convert the possession and the chances. Here's hoping we correct those mistakes against Brom or we're going to be in serious trouble.

Wasn't a stand out game by any means, Liverpool and Chelsea weren't playing like two teams who had to win, rather, two teams who couldn't afford to lose.
I didn't think either side played well, and there was nothing in it up until the final 5 minutes.

Some rash and "wrong" decisions, but this is the level we come to expect from poor officiating in the "best league in the world".

But I've said it time and time again, Winning the League isn't about beating the Liverpool's, Chelsea's, Villa's, Manchester's, Arsenals ... its about beating every other side in the league. You don't win titles drawing / losing to teams like Hull, Stoke, West Ham...

Another dismal display by chelsea today,

personally i think scolari will be gone end of the season cant imagine roman is gonna be to happy if they win jack **** again :p

I've not watched Beckham playing for Milan so far.

But I do know the Italian League is much slower in pace compared to other European Leagues, Do you think this suits Beckham better ?

He's never been lightening fast, and how is he playing in the middle ? *Milan still playing very centrally*

Watching that game myself, yeah glad to see him playing at a team of his quality... Still he's never been teh same since he left United.

Agreed but I really liked him at United and have wanted him to do well since. Think he dropped one going to LA Galaxy, though his bank balance won't agree with me.

First time I've seen him tonight, he looks like he's playing fairly wide tonight.

Beckham never was a world class player, the only thing he ever had was the ability to deliver a ball, and has over the years turned in to a good captain.

I don't it when players are over hyped / rated.

I'd love to watch him play a game for Milan however, And watching them mr tommo ! Do you think he'd keep his place in the squad when Milan are at full strength ?
