Weekend Football Thread. *spoilers* 11-14

Luck had nothing to do with it.

We had more chances than spurs did in the last 30, plus it was a harsh second yellow, Scholes pulled out of the challenge. Huddlestone the fat **** rolled around on the floor holding his face.

Nah it was worth a second yellow card, no doubt. It was wreckless.

Only after the 3rd goal where Spurs pretty much gave up, had we not got that things could have been very different. Whether it was a yellow or not, it was a stupid challenge to make when he was already on a yellow card, especially as that yellow card was for another stupid challenge (to go with all the other yellows he's got this season for stupid challenges) We all know he can't tackle but he should have the experience by now not to make these reckless challenges.

If you paid attention to it then RVP's head didn't move upwards and Adebayor had his feet flat on the floor and was running past when the boot went to RVP's face. And what do you mean, "Knowing Arsenal's reputation"?

Sometimes when you are running that fast, you can't jump over someone or just stop due to momentum.

I think people are making out it's a big deal because there was a little cut on van Softies face, where do you draw the line with contact, if Vermaelen clears a high ball in the box and his toe accidentally touches an attacker trying to head it should a panel of referees be looking to ban him after the game?

You sound ridiculous, stop now. Having seen the replay I don't see how anyone can defend that, it was clearly intentional and very dangerous.

It was a 50:50 challenge and Huddlestone rolled around the floor clutching his face. If Ronaldo had done this last season the pundits would have had a field day.

However I agree it was reckless and yes Scholes does like a good lunge, bad pass by Rio though!

It doesn't bother me when he gets sent off. He'll win us more games than he'll lose through red cards. Part of the "stupidness" of his challenges just comes down to pure desire to win the ball. He's not a dirty player, and never has been. Its just a shame that he'll always be remembered as the player who can't tackle, rather than all the other brilliant aspects to his game.

Slow mo always makes things look bad though. My first, second and third reaction from 'real' time replays was that he was just trying to land correctly and not fall over. There is a definite flick of the foot though, when viewing slow mo.

He will be remembered as one of the best midfielders of his generation by all that matter.

If he was good looking and a media whore he may well of won the Ballon'dor.

For those who are still not sure bout Adebayor's ever so slight moment gathering stomping of Van Persie's face

But I guess Eduardo's dive will probably still be seen as more of an evil by everyone, trying to stamp somebody in the head seems perfectly acceptable compared to diving

Please use youtube embedding in future, many bad replies on there ;)

Is it ok to post that link here with all the terrible racist comments and language from Arsenal fans isn't very family friendly.

Also have seen the incident on match of the day, posting the same video again just reaffirms my opinion. No way to prove that is intentional at all, just an unfortunate accident.

That has nothing to do with what you said before and i must ask as, it seems forgotten what do you mean 'arsenals reputation' ?

I missed the game yesterday and thought RvP might actually be overreacting. Seeing the video now though, thats pretty shocking. Its one thing to tackle hard but to stud someones head. :S

I really think you need your eyes tested.

Exactly you can see in the first view Ade changes the angle of hit foot, not to plant it but to kick him and he swipes at him, not grazing his foot by accident as he goes to put a foot on the ground. He changes the velocity of his foot as well.

He should have a 6 game ban for that.

first time ive seen that, the first angle clearly shows he is going for the face, it was lucky RVP was still sliding else that would have been very nasty.

Now I'm hoping Van Persie gets banned for simulation, fed up of you Arsenal fans whinging about Eduardo! "oh the world hates us" :p

I was saying the same thing to a friend, knowing how terrible the FA are with us it won't surprise me if they fine and suspend Van Persie for his complaint of this incident. I can still remember the day Petit got sent off for swearing at a linesman in french, yet every week you see the likes of Rooney swearing at the ref and linesmen and yet they get nothing.

Davestar, initially I thought you were a Spurs fan but even a spurs fan can't be that naive and ignorant after viewing that clip and seeing his movement going backwards and his leg momentarily going backward and then suddenly forward which coincides with Adebayor looking down at Van Persie's face.
Are you maybe a family member or friend of Adebayor, or his agent ?
