** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

I hate this comment. We get so few big decisions it's ridiculous. Let us not forget, 2 years running we've been knocked out the FA Cup by a shocking penalty decision (and yes, both cases were shocking).

How about when mendes scored and carroll carried the ball about 10 miles behind the line yet you still got the decision?

Arshavin had another great game today, can anyone believe just how quickly he has settled in???

his vision and passing ability is out of this world and getting better game to game, almost every pass is just weighted perfectly ....it's like having another Cesc on the wing.

When we signed him, some russian on another Arsenal site were saying we didn't realise how good a player we've signed. I didn't believe them at the time, but now

Can't wait to see how he does after a full pre-season with us.

It's a shame for Newcastle that Blackburn got that win. Other than that all the results went our way. Now we just have to do our bit tomorrow!

I'm so tense it's untrue.

Since they're my local team, and pretty much the only football club I give even half a toss about (aside from Bury, who I like for reasons unfathomable to modern psychology)....

BURTON ALBION ARE NOW IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!!!!!

And **** me what an absolutely wonderful way to do it (for the sarcasm impaired - that was it). Blow the best part of an enormous lead (19-20 points IIRC), lose to Torquay AGAIN and go up on the strength of Cambridge finally running out of steam and not winning at home against Altrincham.

Ah well, water under the bridge now. We're up. Will be interesting to see if we drop straight back down again - I guess it now depends on just how much the team really wants the move up into the big time.

easy win, Arshavin looks great, but Walcott spurned so many chances today it was a joke. Why we played 4-5-1 again at home, against a bottom table club who had nothing to offer I have no clue. 4-4-2, with Theo as an actual striker and we would have destroyed that game which is what we needed.

Theo again given more than 3 touches on the ball before shooting WILL screw up, even simple passes he lost control and let it go out. yet again someone useful played alongside Denilson and they have the team work ethic to stay back and defend. Nasri spent the majority of the game deeper than Denilson(as fabregas did earlier in the season, and anyone whose played alongside Denilson). Insanely, and laughable Nasri was a far better DM than denilson was, he won more tackles, tracked far more midfield runs, was between the goal and the ball rather than chasing, he was actually brilliant. Simple good accurate passing out of defence putting us into counter attack mode. He was quite superb in his more withdrawn role.

His lack of pace wasn't as punishing defensively because he stayed so deep so often, I was thoroughly impressed with his work ethic and ability in that area of the pitch.

Adebayor was beyond embarassing when he came on, didn't get a single pass right unless it was 30 yards backwards. he was entirely pathetic, and its how he always plays, he just didn't get a lucky tap in to make it look different. Man U the way they played yesterday if we start Adebayor who will constantly give the ball away I don't think we have a chance in all honesty. Likewise Nasri back on the wing and Theo whose just dire defensively will leave us hugely vunerable down the wings from Ronaldo and Rooney if he plays wing, more likely giggs though.

Theo was brilliant, end of. Your a troll. Please leave.

I've got to be honest, I only watched the first half then went and fixed my motorbike, but I've got to defend the drivelmaster on the Walcott point, what I saw of him was decidedly average, the amount of times Bendtterrer and Arseshaving were in the box, unmarked waiting for a ball even a special person could deliver only to see Walcott spaz it nowhere near them was beyond belief.

Arshavin cocked up just as many opportunites really although he did have a good game overall. Bendtner did nothing all game really, Denilson did a quiet but fair job. Thought Nasri should have started left (he plays much better than Ashavin there) and Arshavin as the player in the hole.

Baz what going on about all of these takeover talk about some Indian-based GMR group is it going to happen or some media talk

No idea. There's clearly stuff going on as the yanks have a couple of months to either come up with the money to pay back RBS (not going to happen), pay-off a big chunk of the loan (possible but unlikely) or sell off part or the entire club. There has been some suggestion that GMR connection is more to do with a new sponsorship deal rather than a takeover.

It would be fitting for this guy to buy us though. From Cowboy's to Indians :o
