Wenger - get out

Our big problem is that despite us being told there are millions available, I don't think there is.

In a couple of years, we will have paid off all of our debts and will be in a position to start spending the millions that we are making, but until then, we're rather stuck.

Having said that, if the money is available, then Wenger needs a kick up the rear or a P45, because this season, all of the top teams have lost/drawn far too many games which they should have won and this is the only reason why we're currently second and two/three signings in January might have well given us a good chance of winning the title.

Tbh I have no doubt there is 'millions' available albeit not in the sense of cash reserves - I doubt Arsenal with their business model would have any problem getting substantial additional credit to fund player purchases for example.

Glory aside though, there is a cost/benefit argument of how much extra profit would they generate from actually winning things to how they are doing currently, i.e. consistently and comfortably qualifying for the Champs League (despite every season being 'the one where they will struggle'), having good cup runs etc and whether a considerable additional investment in players/wages is actually worth it - especially when the club is run as a business rather than a toy where the owner can sink 50 million or 150 million and not be looking for a profitable return.

I'm sure that when Wenger steps down as manager he will leave the club. He will either do the French job, or the job at PSG he has spoken about imo, maybe go to a rich club and spend loads of money for a year or two :D He's also spoken about his successor and how he doesn't want to be involved in picking him, I get the impression he will stay until we win something .. anything and then leave us with a good legacy and carry on with his career, he doesn't strike me as a man who wants to take a back seat yet.

Ugh. This thread is pretty much confirming why I decided to stop posting in here so much.

*boots up FM, decides he knows better than a proven professional in his own field, posts thousand word essays on how he would do things differently, leans back and acts smug*

I'm taking a little break from Arsenal this season. I don't like spending my weekends being furiously annoyed with them.

Tbh i pretty much feel the same...thats why im pretty blase about us winning the title..i wish we could and would win it...had we won yesterday then definitely in with a shout but we have Spurs on Wed and honestly i can see us drawing that as well..

It seems like the last few yrs our run in at the end fo the season has been terrible..definitely the past 2 seasons for sure....where we lose/draw against teams that we shouldnt be losing or drawing too.

This summer Wenger needs to make some massive changes ie offload the rubbish crap we have and sign some world class players and spend some money.

If it was not for the Champions League Wenger would have been sacked/resigned ages ago. If you had to win the league to qualify for the European Cup then Arsenal would not be the club they are now. Top 4 and no trophys would be seen as failure.

i think u ar crazy if u want wenger gone i think he's a top coach just look at my points this is just my opinion i know we all see things differently and i certainly understand ur frustration with no trophy's won in 6 years but it could be worse.

1. he gets u in to top 4 every year,
2. he makes huge profits for arsenal spends very little and sells players for good prices,
3. he has a good young team with a good future

my only criticism of him is he doesn't spend enough on big players and he has a terrible defence apart from sagna who is good and refuses to pay money for descent defenders which is the difference between winning and losing a trophy.

trust me i'm a juventus fan we have spent over a 100 million in 2 seasons and failed to reach champions league yet again and gone through 3 managers in 1 year, and u are not out of the premier league title yet u still have to play united and they have to play chelsea aswell so the title is not over for u.

ps i like premier league a lot and chelsea are my favourites in england.

I dont get why people want wenger out. Other teams have grown and unfortunately for arsenal they havent had the resources since they moved stadiums.

Now no doubt everyone will disagree with me here or at least the majority and to be fair it is a pretty biased opinion (im a geordie) but if he had a little bit more experience I thing Chris Hughton would have been a good replacement. He spent little money at Newcastle, worked with the youth squad to improve them and gave them confidence to play. Pretty much what Wenger likes to do but obviously at a higher level. Like I said though bit of a biased opinion so understand when people say im stupid haha

He's going through poor form, so what? Does that mean Man Utd should have sold Rooney when he went through poor form? No it doesn't, you show a bit of confidence in your players! Especially when the player in question is one of your best!

No they offer him £250k a week to stay. Money does talk though as i think his performances or late have been quite good compared to the beginning of the season.

I think Wenger is a good manager but needs a new club. I don't see him bringing any thing new to arsenal (and am a Lfc fan). With our resurrection, man city's money and the promising spurs.

Next season Arsenal may face it rough to gain even the 4th. I still think the worst mistake Wenger did was his policy on players who clock 30yrs. It was very stupid.

There is no way a manager that believes in developing younger players denies them the opportunity to train and learn from the senior ones. I am sure if Viera was to play only the last 10 minutes of that arsenals game against us you would have won it.

Your players a growing in age and football skills but their character and maturity on the pitch is still for an 18yr old. Thats why they will never win the CL under Wenger coz there character comes first before skill ( Ask JM and Sir AF).

Me thinks this summer he'll go and eyes are on a close friend in Madrid ..

To be honest, I think Wenger needs to start to keep his feet on the ground.. He puts himself and his team under a lot of unnecessary pressure which you can feel this tension is the crowd. There have to be winners and losers and no team has the right to win . and it'sd about time some of this managers remember this.. Winning comes as a result of hard work, and good team spirit (although good players help of course).. You can't force results and you can't force your players to get them.. I don't see anything other than a very very uptight squad at Arsenal. With other clubs around spending Millions, Arsenal need to start getting a grip or they'll be in deep water..

Also, Wengers behaviour isn't helping, acting like a spoilt brat whenever things don't go his way.. Throwing bottles, moaning, complaining, failing to shake the hands of opposing managers..It's a disgrace. He'll lose all respect of his players.. As an ambassador to the game, young eyes watching will think this is the normal way to react

However, despite not winning anything for 5 or 6 years, the club has still reached the CL each season. They have a new stadium, you got to a final this year and is likely to finish second.. (somehow) .. that is some accomplishment and many clubs would settle for that.. and all this on the backend when funds at the club were quite tight.. That stadium nearly broke them..

About Wenger, i find it bizare about this 30 year old rule. The likes of Viera would stil be with us and i reckon Pires could have easily emulated "Ryan Giggs" for united.

such a damm shame. i feel the likes of pires and viera wouldnt mind taking a back seat and play only 10mins a game or in CC games at there age. The senior players would have learn soo much from these veteran players who have seen it all. Wenger has made many mistakes as a manager and this one is one that is considered a big one too.

In a nutshell, one of the issues with the current arsenal side is that it doesnt have any leaders and experience players who has done it all and keeping the likes of Viera, Pires and Gilberto could have fixed this issue without spending millions.

Now look at arsenal, they now have to spend more to bring players like Viera into the team when before they already had players like that and got rid of them soo swiftly.

These players may be off pace on field but in the dressing room and during training they would make a far bigger impact than fabregas and co.

This is how i see Arsenal, i see arsenal as a company who recruits only graduate software developers and even though these developers have great talent and can pick up things quickly, they dont have any mentor or experience of doing the job correct and on deadline under pressure. This is where a senior developer would benifit hugely by giving some advice to the graduates/youngsters and this is the same with the current arsenal side.

The likes of Viera learned from tony adams, Henry learning from Berghamp, Gilberto learning from Viera etc etc. Who is walcott learning from? Eboue? lmao, and what about Song? who is he learning and getting advice from? Denilson? diaby? you see, the current crop of players have no one to look up to.

the current crop of players may know how to pass and play one touch football, do fancy skills etc but do they know how to win games at all cost(in a fair legal manor of course?) do they know when to defend? when to clear the ball out of play?

It's strange. Wenger's had a past of selling players - either getting some fees/a profit for them, or at least freeing up some wages.

But then in the last couple of years we've been so desperate for players two old guys whose worth are tantamount to nothing were tempted out of retirement. Sol Campbell and Lehmann, both for a half season?

:/
