What did you do to your bike today?

My RST textiles are the bees knees.

Speaking of gloves, looking for some half decent summer gloves. I have some richa all-rounder gloves at the moment, but they're rather big and thick, not much movement and throttle contact. I'm willing to spend up to £100.

I got lucky and picked up a new pair of Held Chikara gloves for under £50 on eBay and they are really nice quality gloves and very comfortable (though retail price is ~£140 so they ought to be!). The Sensato is within your budget and gets good reviews, if it's anything like as good a the Chikara you won't be disappointed.

Those look nice, longish cuffs too. I have Richa hurricane gtx gore-tex gloves, mix of leather and textiles, should be good in the summer (bit chilly the last couple of mornings), £100 too.

I can see me ending up with about 5 pairs of gloves: full on Winter/heated gloves, summer full wets, summer inters for those days with a chance of rain, summer dry (slicks :) ) for the 2 days a year its 25 degrees and dry, and a spare pair.

Will upgrade the textiles before winter too.

Bought myself a new toy (not strictly bike related!) :)

Took it for a little test run on the way to work, I concluded I need an external mic in the helmet to stop the wind noise!

I also picked up some front LED indicators to replace the standard ones that look like small wings, will get them fitted this weekend!

Nice buy :)
What Recording settings have you got it on and did you do any post-processing? I swear my quality wasn't that good lol. (My HD Ghost is currently under RMA as it likes to freeze a lot!)

I picked up a pack of 3 external mics for £1.99 off ebay, popped out one of the cushion inserts in my helmet and stuffed it in there and then put the cushion back in. Sounds pretty good with no wind noise either! It's just getting the mic cable neat is a pain as the cable is so long.

I just used 1080p @30fps with exposure on -1, I did a test run on the Wednesday with default settings but all light sources were just really blurry and I also had the camera facing a bit low - might upload the footage later for comparison but you can't see much. I didn't do any post processing other than YouTube taking out the excessive vibration.

Are you always that well behaved? :D

I don't know what you mean ;) It's mostly because I was on the back road which is incredibly slippy in the wet, the main road is okay but due to the roadworks going on its just a mud bath when it has been raining.

I'll be going down to the BMAD festival this weekend so hopefully lots of footage containing many bikes incoming! :)

Turn off the YouTube stabilization, you don't need it. It's trying to smooth out every head movement and looks weird. The small bit of helmet in shot acts as a fixed point for your eyes, have a look at the countless other vloggers with the same set up (RJ is a good one).

And yeah, get an external Mic asap!!! :D

Which day? I'm planing on going tomorrow so will maybe see you there,

I'll be there most of the weekend weather permitting, planning to go down tonight and tomorrow at least! If you see a 09 red/white/black R6 that's very noisy, I have a shrek donkey rossi replica helmet you cant miss me :)

I can try uploading the video without stabilization for comparison but it was vibrating quite a lot, i found it annoying to watch at least. Doesn't help given the roads are so bumpy!

You should angle the camera up a bit more, seems like your looking down a Lot, took me three attempts with my contour roam.

Fitted an undertaking tray and tail tidy to my cbr, also had a go at fitting my custom seat..., not as flamboyant as pugs though, also wrong shade of red

Fitted my steering damper and took bike out for a test run into Wales... was meant to be a quick ride... 140 miles later and out again tomorrow morning while it's dry ;-)

Been messing with my suspension today as things get a bit wallowey (< Is that even a word ?) when hitting bumps & dips in the road when pushing on.
So I took it out for a couple of hours ride then came back & stiffened it up front & rear. Difference is night & day, Bike doesn't dive under heavy braking any more & the back doesn't wallow. Of course it's a bit harder when knocking about the small streets but it's bang on for how I ride it.

I killed lots n lots of flies today :D

me Too...quick trip to Southport must have murdered around a million although to be fair they fly into me so it's their own fault.
It amazes me how people (usually the guys on Harleys) can ride around with an open face helmet.
I have had a few bees and such hit my visor and I really would not like to take one in the face.

That reminds me, a few years ago a seagull flew into my mate whilst riding a ZX9R
and he said he was picking bits of it from inside of his helmet and made him throw up. It almost knocked him off.
<<please resist the urge to comment on the helmet>>

Been out and about most of the last 2 days, got a fair bit of footage recorded. Uploaded a little clip of myself arriving at the BMAD festival going past many bikes (and people) as I park up - more to follow!

Also angled the camera up a click as per ConTRo13R's recommendation, looks better now (and hides my speedo more) cheers!

Nearly there.... :D

Things done:
Got working clocks now, rearsets all working correctly, renthal grips fitted.
Rear hugger fitted, front mudguard fitted, rear chain guard removed.
Also fitted some brand new HEL front lines, they are made specifically for K5 1000's fitting yamaha monoblock calipers, cable routing is much better now.
New SBS rear brake pads fitted.

Oh and painting the fairings, fairly decent fit, apart from they are not supposed to be used with a side stand, so in the morning the dremel will be coming out... then final coat of black over the front fairings and she is ready!

I blasted down Santa Pod Raceway!

Set a new PB at 11.748 seconds, which I know is actually one of the slowest you'll find on a bike, but I was happy with it :)
