What did you do to your bike today?

Fitted a new Puig screen, replacing the non-existent one there before. I'm touring through Belgium, Holland and Germany at the end of the month and wanted a little more protection.

Certainly an improvement, but still far from the protection that proper fairing would offer. Suits the bike well though.

Did 170 miles on the varadero this weekend, 50ish on Saturday and 120 today. After 2 weeks and nearly 600 miles on a 125, I can already feel myself wanting a bigger bike... :)

Commuting to work and back, it's perfect - does 70mph on the short dual carriageway section, and if the car drivers are nice, will get past the traffic doing 50mph on the NSL single carriageway parts. And costs less than £14 for 200 miles worth of petrol.

If I only ever wanted it for the commute, it's all I need. However, doing 120 miles on a ride out today to Margate via Canterbury, then back via Sandwich and Canterbury, getting stuck behind bank holiday drivers doing 40-50 in NSL zones, and having to reeeeeeally plan any overtakes (did manage a couple, even some 2/3 car overtakes past the really slow ones!), the limits of a 125 are becoming more apparent.

Noticed this especially when a group of guys on sports bikes (think there was a GSXR, R1, and about 5 other bikes) came past on the A20, I'd been behind this bunch of about 5 cars all doing 45-50 in a nice sweeping bendy 60 zone  and before I knew it they were past all the cars in front leaving me in their dust (literally!) thinking "You Barstewards. Now hurry the **** up cars! Oh wait there's a gap.... nope, it's less than half a mile and I need 10 seconds run up first... *sigh*" :p

It's fun on a quiet A roads (The A252 is a cracker) with some nice sweeping bends though, I'm never doing more than 65 (indicated) on these roads (70+ needs a decent run up) so it's good clean legal fun. Could just do with a bit more top end at times. the acceleration between 40-60 is, erm, lacking somewhat.

DAS (or a few weekend lessons) in a few months time I reckon.;):D 5 months and 4500-5000 miles on a big 150kg 125cc should be enough experience to only need a couple of lessons on a "big" bike I reckon.

A fairly typical scene of a Benelli owners garage...

It's running very roughly at idle and at small throttle openings when it's warmed up so replacing the ignition coils as these are a common failure point. Rather than put overpriced, unreliable Benelli coils back in I've modified the coils from a 675 Daytona.

Agnes would hate this bike, I think his head would explode with the amount of work I've done on it so far, but I'm still loving it.

I've never understood the logic behind 'loving' an unreliable bike :p My old man has a Ducati 998s which spends more time in bits than on the road.. He calls it 'character'.

Because I love working on my bikes, and also because it's really a toy. I commute on it in decent weather, but I don't have to rely on it every single day so it's no big deal if it's in bits.

It's also not unreliable in the sense that it breaks down often, it's just that I am a bit of a perfectionist and these bike left the factory with a few rough edges that need sorting to make a great bike better.

I went to the BMAD festival on Paignton sea front on Sunday and it was the only one there. It received far more attention and positive comments than the ubiquitous Fireblades, R1's, Harelys etc.

And that I fully understand! good luck to you fella. :)

Cracking weekend, nice trip down the foss way to bourton on the water. (like a posh Matlock) and then upto Squires and the back down the peaks to Matlock before home.

The RC8 gets some attention, first time i have been asked by people to have there picture taken with it. Why they would want a picture taken with it after a 500m weekend fly killer is beyond me though :)

@Fireskull - WOW, youv'e turned that around in super quick time, nice work man (and a lot of hours I expect). Jesus, the rear of that thing looks like the Alien Queens Head... loving it lol

Agree the date of 27th May to put my bike into W.M. Snells to get it opened up and looked at, all paid for by Ducati. If they find it's a faulty gear, I will be in the clear. If they think I've been riding it like a hoon and tracking it (which I haven't) then they will charge me to put the bike back together and fix it...

Really hope it's not bad in the engine.

Ordered some new headlights. My bodge/careful repair isn't holding the water back. Will take them apart when they are off the bike and see if i can recondition them and resell them.

heat the seams up with a heatgun, you'll see it full of black sealer or use a bead of silicon sealer round the edges of the seams

be carefull though as your heating the whole unit in the oven, carefull when pulling the two cases apart not to get any sealer on the chrome lenses inside,i had a tiny bit touch mine and it was hard to get off

I reckon some silicon sealer round the whole headlight seam without parting it would be best?

I wished id have stuck some angel halo's in while I had it apart but nvm
