What did you do to your bike today?

The part which connects to vacume part on the carb is cracked and split all over :( Part of the problem my bike was running like **** :( Think there is any way to get a new piece to fix it rather that just removing it from the bike.

Take a pic with your camera so we are on the same page.

I may have the part you want.

cheers jay.

Ok.

In the 'New Bike Thread' I put a pic of my Bandit, first bike and I am a new rider. now I love it but found it to be twitchy whether cornering, braking or even going in a straight line and as I would start to lean it would feel like it wanted to be tipped into the lean to knee down point which is not my aim, I just want to go round the corner normally dam it lol!

I was however told that the Bridgestone BT020 (front) and BT011 (rear) are decent enough but I should change them as they are 6 years old.....

AND today I got me some Avon Storm Ultra 2's:D Oh wow, I just want to ride, ride ride and did I say ride?
It has transformed the bike and I am amazed! It leans the way I want it to, grips more and they were fitted 2 hours ago! The bike does not randomly twitch and the is clearly more stopping power too.
Cost £224 fitted. No fun for me for a month (have petrol money set aside though:D )

Oh I was going to get Maxxis Supermaxx Diamonds but forgot to ring the garage back to confirm the order and turned up today looking like a right plonker so said sod it chuck the Avon's on.

Excited post, sorry! HAHA

Sounds like your old tyres were Squared off Brackish that's why you get that tip in feeling & wander about over white lines, Glad you got it sorted.

All I do these days is ride mine whether it's raining or not, My tyres are Michelin Anokee 2's & they are lovely whether wet or dry.

That is the thing Pug, the bike has only done 1400 miles! I looked into the rear tyre and people have had over 6k miles including motorway riding.

But the weather man says tomorrow is a nice day so think I will take a run down the A5 then across to Banbury then back. That should pretty much get the new tyres run in enough.

Well the weatherman was right, look at it, blue skies here... I can't make it out today, but me and a mate are out on an all dayer tomorrow me thinks... should be good! Also, got the relay fitted to the bike so all the new LED indicators work perfectly now... get in there.

crashed it at Rockingham :( I had my foot peg blobs on still for some stupid reason and when decked over with knee planted on the floor one of them dug in and lift the rear wheel off the ground... and then around she went :(

Luckily the R&G saved most of the bike, damage was starter motor casing worn through (liquid metal fixed that), Akrapovic can scratched, mirror smashed and rear brake lever damaged. No bodywork damaged thank god and once we put some metal putty on the leaking cover I rode it for the rest of the track day and home :)

Note to anyone taking a road bike on track... remove the foot peg blobs!

Some pics to follow tomorrow when i'm not so tired.. until then here is another brown trouser moment I had thanks to my dodgy rear brake lever that I had previously damaged.

Sucks :(

I've not been on track but am surprised at your use of the rear brake unless you are intentionally looking to slide the back out. I was always under the impression that using both brakes hard would force a big speed differential in the front and back wheels due to the front doing most of the work and reducing the load on the rear. In fact I used to do it on my old bike to step the back out for laughs. I'd ask around if you do another but personally I'm not sure I'd bother using the rear unless you have to drag it mid corner.

MoT ran out last week so the Mille hasn't moved. And it looks like it won't move for a while either as I've had to MoT and service both my cars this month which resulted in a bill of £1200 for servicing and new tyres.

Unfortunately the bike is a 'toy' for me now and as such, it's not a priority to get it sorted out for road use. That said, I'm going to book it in for its test in a fortnights time and if it passes ( which I fully expect it to do since its done little over 1000 miles in the past 12 months ) then happy days. If it doesn't, then it will just need to wait.

That was the only only corner I was using the rear brake tbh, i've done Rockingham before and did it then also, it worked well for me. But as i mentioned my rear lever had snapped half of it off from the earlier crash so a normal amount of force was amplified into the lever, was very hard to judge.

Like you say, I also never really use the back brake, only that corner.

Today I picked up a mint CCM branded Remus Can for a good price  So if you hear a rumble don't worry it'll just be me starting the bike up :D

8:00am start for me and a mate Sunday morning, infact need to get some shuteye as it's gonna be a long day... North Wales through some nice route over to Anglesey, go see a track then god knows where, but it's an all dayer... get in there, weather please be good to us ;-)

Looks like you **** yerself and stood the bike up and jumped on the brakes . No need for rear brake unless yer trail braking or controlling a wheelie. Can see how getting yer hero blobs down caused it to lift the rear as the peg would have tilted up to stop this as you mentioned knee down so the bike would be more upright (the reason we lean off bikes ) unless you never had a cheak off and had max lean while not hanging off ... I think there is more to it

The pegs don't lift up because you have your foot pushing it down when you're leaning over. The idea is to position your foot correctly so it's on the edge of the peg and your toe sliders will hit the deck before your peg. I've had the peg dig in on the road and it lifted the rear but I managed to stay on, tis rather scary!

I had barely even really started to turn in, what you can't see from the helmet cam in this video was how long it was locked up before I realised what was going on.. you only see it when it starts doing a mega slide. As i said above this was the only place i used the rear brake. I've done well over 200 laps of Rockingham now and this had always worked for me, but maybe i'll just stick to the front now!

I guess you mean that you "can't" see how the peg dug in? trust me, it did. rubbish pic here, the blob was not marked before the track day and this was after first session (when I crashed) The crash was at the hairpin so very tight and it was also next to a Marshall and a crowd of people watching, they said the same as I just told you. As mentioned above when you're decked over with weight on the peg it will not bend up as easily, esp in a tight slightly up hill hairpin. I just went in faster than normal, was pushing it.
