What did you do to your bike today?

The pegs don't lift up because you have your foot pushing it down when you're leaning over. The idea is to position your foot correctly so it's on the edge of the peg and your toe sliders will hit the deck before your peg. I've had the peg dig in on the road and it lifted the rear but I managed to stay on, tis rather scary!

Even with yer foot on it . it will come up .. and the picture you put up is an aftermarket peg with no hero blobs . and the damage is on the face of the peg so unlikley from cornering hard . The weight of the bike and you pushing against the ground with hero blobs will push the peg up but there is a limit of how far the peg will go

I know its not a standard peg, the picture doesn't show it but the peg doesn't sit perfectly horizontal, the right side is lower than the left. Said incident happened where there's a bump in the road which made the rear slip a little and the peg dug in and lifted the bike. I'm not saying I was cornering really hard it was more a case of me trying to get my knee down and positioning myself horribly. When the peg hits the deck it can easily be enough to unsettle the bike and throw you off and those lean angles especially if you're trying hard.

Anyway, fitted a new coolant pump cover to my bike as the spline the breather pipe linked too leaked (seems to be a common issue, new cover isn't the same part no. as my old one) so no more coolant slowly leaking for me! Also bled the front brake and can stop a lot sharper now, had an awesome ride out today ;)

Well, Sunday was awesome, and going fantastic with some stunning countryside and some great roads, all nice and twisty... right upto the point we (me and a mate) got caught by the rozzers... and annoyingly we'd actually been riding very safely as usual, 30 in 30's, 40 in 40s and through small villages... as we normally do and then onto loads of twisty's which lets be honest you don't go flat out on so... upto this point was a safe and nice ride...

Both got caught averaging 96mph down a 60mph section of A Road. I've got it all on film rofl... as I had my camera running. We came shooting around this bend onto a fantastic stretch of straight road with zero cars and you can see the whole road going on for 800m+...

... then in the bushes a copper jumps out and signals us both in... at this point I'm there with a lid camera which doesn't probably look good, Copper then decide to slowly walk around bike, touching tyres etc etc (not sure if checking for heat, tread or both)..., checking all around the bikes and then comes back and then does what we expected:

  • Copper "So lads, why you think I've stopped you?"
  • Mate "Speeding... "
  • Copper "Yes and what speeds you think you were doing?"
  • Me and Mate then look at the floor shuffling like kids that have been caught smoking rofl
[*]Copper "Well, I'll tell you, 96mph lads which is 4 shy of an automatic ban... what ya got to say fro yourselves"
[*]Mate "It's a fair COP" ROFL ROFL ROFL which I barely held back the laughing... and to be fair the Copper did see the funny side of it..
So, then it was a lecture and us trying to save @ss... basically he's said because of the speed it'll go to Magistrates court and then it's upto them, possible 6 points on licence with a 28 day ban and licence revoked for 28 days... including drivers one.

Anyway, we rides off cheesed off then it occured to me... there's no way on earth he's gonna get us done and he won't put it in... for the following reasons:

1). He said that it could take upto 6 months to get notification to attend court - Sorry, but speeding is speeding, it's the same if it'd have been 61mph, over the limit, he's saying this to bull and scare us (it worked) so that we now watch our riding speeds over the next 6 months as he knows if he says 6 points, another 6 points will be auto ban for a year so we'll ride slower.

2). He wrote our names and addresses on pieces of scrap paper, didn't fill in any type of official form. I know, I've been done for speed in the car twice... pieces of bog roll don't count.

3). Never once did is ask if we had drivers licence on us or any documentation.

4). When you've been caught for speeding, you usually have to supply and take your MOT, Insurance and Licence to your local cop shop... nothing.

5). When he showed my mate the speed gun it was showing 96mph average, then I asked how quick I was going (hoping to have beaten mate rofl) and he just shown me the 96mph again. NO WAY ON EARTH would he have been able to do us both on the same reading... we weren't do the same speed I was catching Dave at this point and then in the view I'd have been right behind Dave so he'd have not got a reading.

Basically as he was a motorbike cop himself, he knows that you speed on bikes, and he's trying to give us a warning... 99% we reckon he'll throw the paper in the bin... so I'm not worried in the slightest now, it's not going to happen. Well fingers crossed anyway... if we get done then lets be honest, we were speeding and hold our hands up... but I have a feeling he knew we weren't idiots and let us roll, only time will tell.

I don't think you get a form if it goes straight to magistrates. As for him writing it on some scrap paper, it makes sense. He's not going to be able to have loads of official forms on him while he's biking. He'll probably fill a proper form out when he gets back to the station.

The last time i had a run in with the plod, i asked them if they'd like me documents ( whilst at the roadside ) & he replied "nah mate ive allready checked them, there on the ANPR", which they where, didn't get a producer either.

Granted that was a couple of years ago & Nottingham police, so things are probably done diferently in your neck of the woods.

Washed it, first time since march :o (and the Car)

Also put on the new Gear position sensor, no pics of that though, but the bike is already running much better! Now to get the clutch apart one weekend soon!

Well, we'll find out, my money's on him letting us off, at the end fo the day though, he can't get both of us with one gun epsecially when one rider is behind the other so, it wouldn't stick for me anyway if I kicked up a stink... all just was too hap hazard for this one to go to court I'm afraid, they've got bigger fish to fry than two lads out on a bike ride... we'll see... and my fingers are crossed me thinks.

Got caught speeding :o Yesterday actually - 85 in a 60 through mountain area of Brecon; the copper was sound though, he said they were operating a zero tolerance to speeding in the area, due to the amount of deaths - so it was 3 points and 60 quid.

First time I've had points or been stopped for anything like that really, so can't complain.
