What did you do to your bike today?

If not insured? Has something changed and I've been living under a rock?

It would seem so! This particularly annoying bit of DVLA stupidity was introduced in January 2011, and means you have to SORN a vehicle that is not insured or risk a fine.

As per normal for the DVLA, this causes far more hassle and aggravation for law abiding citizens rather than the scrotes it's supposed to target.

Got caught speeding :o Yesterday actually - 85 in a 60 through mountain area of Brecon; the copper was sound though, he said they were operating a zero tolerance to speeding in the area, due to the amount of deaths - so it was 3 points and 60 quid.

First time I've had points or been stopped for anything like that really, so can't complain.

Were you lasered or was he following you?

This is why I mentioned it, because a lot of people don't seem to have heard.

I've started playing 'shopping chicken' more and more lately, I know one of these days I'm going to be leaving that 6 pint bottle of milk in the car park hehe.

Shopping chicken :p I'm using that.

Todays chicken run even got in a 3kg bag of dog food alongside 4 pints of milk 4 cobs my smokey bacon & a shed load of munchies.

Should make some rules for this Shopping Chicken. Sounds fun too!

I bought some toothpaste a few weeks ago and had to bag or tail pack and to fit it under the seat I had to bin the box, got some right weird looks taking the tube out of the box whilst my bike seat is sat on the floor and I am scratching my noggin lol!

State if you have panniers, or a tail/tank pack or ruck sack maybe?

I failed at getting two 5kg bags of oats in my backpack last night :( So just took 1 bag and could still fit my clothes in :p

Just had my first road kill. :(

Some vole/mice type thingy crossed the road at the wrong time whilst I was coming back down the A444 & I felt it crunch as I went over it.

RIP Vole/Mouse type thingy. :p

I kill a few snails on wet mornings when I back my bike out of my porch. Stupid snails should move out of the way, surely they can see me coming?

Which is surprising since the DVLA do actually send out information on this with tax renewals etc. and it was quite widely publicised at the time.
Not publicised enough obviously and who the heck reads extra bits of paper shoved into envelopes... you just get you're tax letter out and renew... hence why I didn't know this. They're obviously not got a good system there as this means my 125 has been illigal for the last 2 months lol

Ok most recent shopping chicken:

Equipment:
BMW Top box of some size
Hopes and dreams

1Kg potatoes; 4 pints milk (semi-skimmed yo); mushrooms; carrots; 2x cheese; a swede (I hope); butter; sausages.

No Haggis as Waitrose said "it's seasonal". I find this unacceptable.

If you decide to by a 42" plasma from a supermarket, I want pictures of you getting it home :D

When I go shopping on my bike I fill my rucksack to the point where I'm worried it's going to spill on the way home and also stuff a bag of stuff down my leather jacket. The jacket has this great feature of being double zipped for allowing you to put your shopping down there or if you put on weight.

Yesterday I went to tescos and managed to fit 12 bottles of coors from a box in my school bag and 6 packets of BBQ chicken. Oh and a bottle of jack D. Thought it was going to burst with the weight, had to loosen it so the bag rested on my back seat!

Today ended in a nightmare... 5 of us all mates met up and scooted off into Wales... 1 hasn't returned and is currently in hospital... he came off on a bend, thrown around 40+ metres bouncing at some points across cement and then luckily landing on soft ground in the end... Ducatti 916 smashed to bits... shook us all up badly... in mid Wales in the arse end of no where... and none of us had signal... luckily one of the lads knows the area inside out... ragged off, called 999 and ambulance came... looks like multiple broken bones, bruising on the brain, bruises everywhere... luck lucky lucky... if I can say that about someone who wasn't moving for minutes... and was out cold... this is a guy with 20+ years of riding fast, slow, safe blah blah blah... he's a good rider by all accounts and he made a silly decision that nearly cost him his life.

When you see something happen and someone disappear into a cloud of grey smoke... it's messing with my head even now some 6 hours after it happened... stomachs in bits tonight :-(

Luckily, he'd bought a new lid, wears a one piece leather and I'll be honest, I think it's saved him... he was metres from hitting solid metal posts...

Its' days like this that I think... is this worth it? Right now, I'm not sure it is :( Time for some Jack Daniels to calm down.
